View Full Version : Anyone interested in NEW STi Subaru Parts??

webkris

Lets say that the Impreza aluminum control arms were only $700 for the set.
Would any of you be interested?

Lets say that the WRX Version 5 struts were around $280 for the set. Would anyone want those?? Springs too for a good price?

Anything else STi that everyone would want to buy??

I am working some serious deals here! Better then subaruparts.com deals. Plus no shipping for you local guys, and no huge shipping markup like "other" parts dealers.

Feedback would be great!
Thanks,
Kris

Kris, I doubt the struts are the "pink" ones. The RED ones are the STI/WRX V5 struts (FHI ones) that come stock on STI/WRX cars. The "Pink" ones are actually STI struts with STI numbers, and are big money.
The ones for sale by sugar in the GB now are the red ones, and the ones on the subaruparts.com are the red ones, even though the picture looks pink. The springs go for about $188. The group buy right now is alittle under $280 for the struts (not by much at all). It is pretty much the subaruparts.com price without shipping. From what I have heard, they are on backorder though?

O yeah, I may be interested... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

I am also going to be at Exeter Subaru Thursday if you want to meet me there Kris. Maybe we can haggle with Mike together.

Pink - Red? I'm guessing this has nothing to do with the actual color - but the part number of the strut. Yep, the're pink!

http://24.147.94.96/paul/stistrut.jpg

Yes - Same as the group buy: WRX STi Struts. I think I can do $260 for the set without shipping! I know how much SubaruParts.com is making on them, and yes - you would cry... They charge $90 to ship those control arms UPS ground. Even though a 20lb package is $16 to ship from CA according to UPS.com. So they are making most of their money on shipping! At a total cost of around $975 shipped from the left coast - they make close to $270 on the deal... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/mad.gif

http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif Anywho - it sounds like the two things I picked could be good sellers. Let me know!

Count me in, but make sure you have Credit card setup and insurance of some kind just in case something bad happens. Like some of the GB events. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/frown.gif (where people sent money, and no product sent, and people want money back. that kind of thing)

"The ones for sale by sugar in the GB now are the red ones, and the ones on the subaruparts.com are the red ones, even though the picture looks pink."

Just so know one gets confused, these are not STI "pink" struts. They are FHI "red" struts made by KYB, sold by Rallispec/subaruparts.com/and any other subaru parts person because they are a vendor item. They come standard on STI/WRX V5 cars, and are inverted, and very nice. Not every part on an STI car is an STI part. I have researched this alot since the first GB by sugar. Kris, $260 is a great price! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif, one that would make me run from the mod police and get my credit car. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

Can you/we check out prices on the springs too? There is lots of confusion on the springs in the other buy. Some say the part numbers match the numbers of North Ursalia's P1 spring listing (?). I have been trying to track down the spring rates on all the springs (STI/WRX, Eibach) to determine if I should keep the Eibach's or not.

Any idea when this will have to happen? Can we hold off until after Christmas, so we can spend our Santa money? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif

I would be interested in a set of springs and struts for the wagon. I guess the wagon uses the same strut, but the rear springs are diffrent (I hear). Does STi have these? I also wouldn't mind a good set of 4 pot brakes in the front, and some 2 pots out back......get it, outback....hehehe....I am so spent. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

I'm interested, but I don't know that much about suspension. I want stiffer (bettter handling - road & track, maybe auto-x) suspension. are these the red or pink... what's the difference? and what else should I upgrade (I'm thinking springs but I'm clueless). Thanks

No - no joke cblock http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif - I'll keep your "Christmas List" in mind... Those are all "possibilities".

As far as the struts - they are pink. But honestly I have not researched them, and don't know their dampining characteristics. I went with RS Struts and Eibach springs on my car. You can find ALL about them by searching in the Technical forum. The ride is going to be different then the stock RS - that's for sure http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

Anyone else? - Thanks, Kris

webkris

I'm just a man with a plan. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

I hear a lot of requests for the WRX/STi Struts and Spings - for the sedan and the wagon. I have the part numbers for the Struts and Springs - but not the wagon springs... If they are different - I need a part number for them.

I also need the individual part numbers for the front V5 bumper kit. Chin spoiler, grill, fog covers, hood vents, rear spats, etc. AND the STi 4pot kit. Calipers, pads, rotors, bracket, etc. I have the numbers for the control arms, sway bars, struts, sedan springs, and other "stuff".

That is your mission: should you choose to accept. Mission : ImprezaPartNumbers

I'm just going to call Europe on the companies dime - and be like "umm Hello - could you give me ALL of the STi part numbers for everything. Because we can now order it in the US, and SOA doesn't even realize it..." "Oh, and SubaruParts.com thinks what they are doing can't be done by any dealer in the US. That's funny too!"

Okay, yeah, I'm evil... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/mad.gif

Oh - Bill, Aluminum hoods - no problem!
Can you think of 4 other people who want them? It'd be around $400 or less. Not bad considering you'll take 20+ lbs of the front of your car.

I can get aluminum trunk lids too!

What benefits do aluminum control arms give you?

Besides the 30 lbs of weight - I believe they are "stronger" in that they behave differently under stress. Similar to Steel wheels VS. Aluminum wheels. The same amount of force that would bend a steel wheel wouldn't bend an aluminum one. Yet at maximums the aluminum will shatter - where as steel will crumple or peel.

I'd say it's all about weight. - Kris

Kris,
Id eventually want an aluminum hood also. But from what Ive read, the aluminum trunk lid only weighs 1 lb. less than ours, so I wouldnt bother with that.

Kris,
I would most likely be interested in some suspension and brake parts? But, it would be after the first of the year. Let me know if this will be a one time thing or on going deals through the dealership? I'm also heading to Europe next friday and am going to goto a UK Subie dealer and see about getting an STi catalog for part #'s. I'll let you know them when I get back and any other info. I'll try and get. Thanks for setting this up Kris, this will be awesome!

I'm hoping for on-going group buys through the dealership.
I have started the aluminum hood group buy, and I'm working on how cheap we can get the STi 4 pot brakes.
Those struts are on nation wide back-order, and there's not a lot I can do about that http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif.
I'm also working on getting a distributor directly from FHI in Japan...
