I think the turbo timer thing is a good idea for the WRX. There seems to be 3 dominant brands: Greddy, HKS, and Blitz. I'm kinda leaning towards the Blitz, mainly do because of the boost gauge attribute. I think the HKS is more Alarm freindly. The Greddy is a choice number-last.

Any suggestions?

I just order the Blitz Dual Turbo Timer from alamomotorsports.com. I don't know of a local Houston place that sells Turbo Timers and after shopping around I found alamo to be the cheapest. I still have 500 more miles to go before I am really going to need it, so I figured I could wait the 5 days.
I am concerned about hooking it up with the factory alarm, but I am sure I will figure it out. I also purchased the Service Manual today so that I could have a reliable wiring diagram.
There is one other TT that I was considering from a company named Defi. It actually creates a Heads-Up-Display boost gauge on the windshield. Although I thought it was really cool, it was a little pricey for me and I haven't decided if I want the TT out in the open like that.
Other accessories I bought today include wheels, R-Compound, K&N Drop-in, and a new helmet for my wife. I can't believe that I spent nearly $1700 on goodies for my new baby and I haven't even had it a week. My credit card company is loving me today. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

From what I’ve been reading, you need it from DAY 1. At the very least, you shouldn’t turn you car off for at least 15 second after you’ve parked, and that’s if you were a completely tame driver.

In any case, I think the Blitz is the one I may choose, but I need it to work with my alarm. In other words, I need to be able to arm the car while it is running. This may cancel out the ability of the alarm to use any kill switch feature that it may have. I believe that the HKS unit shuts the engine down if anyone releases the parking brake. If the alarm prevents ‘starting’ while armed rather than ‘running’ while armed, then the HKS system may be a good choice for me. BUT… I like the boost gage of the Blitz system. I have more research to do.

The blitz dual TT also has the E-Brake cutoff as well. Also, as for bypassing anything on the alarm, I don't think it will affect any major alarm functions. I am thinking that I am going to "trick" the alarm into thinking the car is always in the off position. Doing this shouldn't affect the starter-kill feature of the alarm since that is an entirely different circuit and should have nothing to do with the turbo timer.

I have been letting my turbo "cool down" for at least 1 minute after driving. I am going to AutoX on April 1st and I am afraid that in the heat of momment I will shut the engine off after my run. I want to make sure that I can't do that. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

I'll be at the Autocross too, but I doubt I'll race. Are you going to do your own alarm and timer installation? I'll have to come see your setup in April. I'm sure you will be easy to spot.

I have an HKS turbo timer, works great.
Doesnt bug the alarm either (alpine).

i think im going to the auto x also. i might order the blitz this week. im not sure how to install it so maybe one of you could give me some pointers. i dont have the alarm.

And the starter kill works when the alarm is armed. The only thing that sets the alarm off when the turbo timer is doing its thing is foul plugs, makes the engine shake too much http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/wink.gif .
