Well here soon I will be shipping my car to the mainland and driving accross country. this is still in the planning stages but It will be in Sept...I am planning on a Great Scooby Trip with stops at ISR, ASR, Kartboys, COBBS, as well as drives thru Elsinore http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/biggrin.gif.. I will end up in Ashville NC home to Teagues and Prestige Subaru..http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif where that will be my new home..the big question is what should I use to protect my frontend from Chip and bug damage...How much is the 3M clearbra... Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated for those that have done it in the Scooby...Pan on a I 10 transit or I 40...depending on how things go...

Thanks

I use the factory bra on my 2300+ mi trek from NV to MI and back every year.

The bra does a good job in preventing rock chips and all that, but it sometimes leave permanent moisture lines on the hood if you forget to take it off during and after rain.

Chaplin's Subaru/VW in Bellevue drove a new Passat from somewhere and used a 3M GreyBra. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/tongue.gif

I was wandering through their back lot and there was a brand new Passat sitting there with duct tape all OVER the front end. I feel sorry for that paint.

I drove my '98 L 3400 miles round trip without damage to the front end. It NEVER smelled the same again... darned grasshoppers caked in the radiator cooked and made some funky stench. You might want to get one of those screens that goes across the grill to keep the bugs off of the radiator.

I don't have the clearbra but I do have the Stongard protection which uses the same 3M material and I am happy with it so far. It's only been on the car a week or so. Since I got it I've been noticing quite a few high end cars like Porsche 911's with the 3M protection. It isn't cheap though, unless you buy the material and cut and install it yourself.

Scooby South....

I'm with Jamie, I'm going to get a Factory Bra for mine.

I know it's as ugly as a Monkey's Butt, but I'm only going to put it on for long road trips to prevent bugs n' rocks n' pedestrians from damaging my paint.

Are you coming at the end of September? Because if you are you should Caravan with a bunch of us SoCal folks to the Prescott Forest Rally in Arizona!

It's the weekend of October 6th and it's only a 7 hour drive from LA! We all went to Rim and it rocked! I guarantee you won't want to miss this one!

Sounds like fun...http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif...But I don't think my schedule will allow the extra time...I have to be in NC by the 18th of Sept.(Wifes B-Day) and depending on the job situation, I might have to be there earlier....But it does sound like a blast...http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

I use a subaru full bra on my car for road trips. It fits perfect and installs easily for great protection. Looks great too!
