i have yet to get anything in the mail...

does the recall affect all MY00s or just certain VIN #s?

anybody get a car near July? I picked mine up on Jun 30th and it was there less than a week (Fresh Off the Boat)

I recieved my letter as well. I have yet to see any problems, i.e. CE light. I need to get my front end re-aligned, so will make a appointment to do both.

what do you have to bring to the dealership to get it fixed?, cause i bought it used from a friend and do you need documentations? also, if you have mods in your car wouldnt that limit you from the warranty or because its a recall so it wouldn't matter?

hi all,
could someone please send me the number to subaru of santa cruz? id be willing to go down there on sat prefferably, but i need my car sat night. or on sunday. how long should it take? and can we just go by and have them do the work or do we need appointments? anyhelp would be great as i havent recieved my letter yet and im driving an 00 purchased in may. thanks

Subaru of SC is 831-420-1500.

I heard about the recall, but did not receive the letter. I went down on Sunday and had the sensor replaced. So you don't actually need the letter to get the sensor changed. Bruce can check then and there whether your car is affected by the recall. I would make appointments as it might get busy real fast. I finally received the letter yesterday.

I seriously doubt Subaru of Santa Cruz will care about any mods and will only give you the <IMG SRC="http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/icons/icon14.gif" border=0>. From what others have said, they are very cool about mods.

Also about time to do all this stuff....Bruce told me it would take an hour to and hour and half (for just mine). So I dunno how long it would take if the whole lot of us went at the same time. But I am down if you guys really wanna do this.

02-21-2001, 10:51 PM
Has anyone mentioned the same problem in my01 imprezas? my "check engine" light came on sporatically for a few days. Custom intake was letting in particles and i think that might have messed up my mass airflow sensor. just trying to rule out any other ideas.

OnE
02-21-2001, 11:30 PM
Yeah, so what is going on? Is somebody going to call sc subaru and see if we can get a group apointment or do we just make our own? Oh... i do know of one person who had a bad o2 sensor.

scootr
02-22-2001, 01:21 AM
Would MY01 be included at all. It is the same exact car and I get rich mixture, hesitations, pretty crappy gas mileage etc.
Sometimes I think that mine is bogus but I have had no CE light. Anybody?

The letter states:

SUBARU OF AMERICA, INC. has determined that some 2000 model year Subaru Legacy, and Outback models with automatic transmission, Impreza 2.5RS models with manual or automatic transmission and 2000/2001 Forester models with manual or automatic transmission may require replacement of the front oxygen (Air/Fuel Ratio) sensor.

so um...anyone calling to make us a group appointment? it might help if we knew who would like in one it...i'll start..

Me...but can't this saturday...

HomerJay

I got my letter yesterday. It effects all Subaru Impreza 2.5RS' 2000. I haven't had any problems yet but I'll get it fixed regardless. I'll be surprised if you don't see the letter soon and you drive a MY00.

Well SOMEBODY had to call so I finally did. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif

Just now, he said sure no problem. Since Saw Jai cant do it this Saturday I asked about Sunday. He asked how many people were going to do this and I wasnt sure, I said maybe 5 or 6. I'll get a call back in about 30 minutes (the service manager is going to call me back to give me the ok).

Ok guys who can do it this Sunday?
Saw Jai,
Me,
Jansen?

Oh yeah when I said 5 or 6 of us the guy on the phone said "oh, thats not bad at all." so I take it they can hanldle a couple more cars.

Edit: sorry guys, I really need to get to school now, I can't wait for the call anymore. Hopefully he'll leave a message. I'll try to check around 12pm to see if he did.

Hi Folks! My boss just called me at home(taking a few days off-just worked 6 in a row-going to track day-back to work on Sunday). He wants me to handle your request to get these recall jobs done on Sunday. When I left work last night, I was still booked pretty light for that day. Handling 5 or 6 more oxygen sensor replacements shouldn't be a big deal. I'v got 2 technicians working on Sunday, so I just need to plan things out a bit,and we can make it happen. Does anybody need other work than the recall? Let me know-we work until 3:00 on Sunday, if I have enough work lined up I'll hold off booking other work. If anyone is not sure if their car is affected by the recall, just email me the VIN and the current mileage-I'll run an inquiry with Subaru and find out. You can email me here at home(BPEF@cs.com)and/or at
work(bruce@santacruzsubaru.com). I'm planning on going to the shop around 1-2:00-I'll check my mail before I leave and when I get there. I'll set appointments up then.
Thanks for your support-the i-club rocks!

Bruce, you rock!

Brucelee, I'm sure SC Subaru would do the best job for you. But if you want to DIY, we're getting together at Adam's shop on Saturday and I can show you the ropes. As long as it's cool with Adam of course. Bring a drain pan, funnel, and something to line the floor in case things get messy.

Merge onto I-880 S.
I-880 S becomes CA-17 S.
Take CA-1 SOUTH RAMP toward WATSONVILLE/MONTEREY.
Merge onto CA-1 S.
Take the exit towards MORRISSEY BLVD.

Turn LEFT onto FAIRMOUNT AVE.

Turn RIGHT onto MORRISSEY BLVD.
Turn RIGHT onto WATER ST.
Turn RIGHT onto SOQUEL AVE.

This is what i have so far. i hope this will get there. has anybody been there?

Blah.... ok so the wrx won't be here on monday. sorry guys http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/frown.gif i just remember talking to that one guy and him saying that they would be here on the 5th. Well we can still go when they do come in on the 19th. i don't think ppl will be able to pick them up on the 19th so we will probably go a few days after.
