Still looks as ugly as ever!!! It been here in Oz for 4 months now and Subaru sold hardly any of them...!
ugly ugly ugly!!

ColinL 01-08-2001, 03:39 PM Uh, MSRP is finally announced!!!
$23,995 for MT5 sedan
$24,995 for VTD sedan
$23,495 for MT5 wagon
$24,495 for VTD wagon
Not bad!
Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 03:43 PM that's f***ing brilliant! SOA rule!
kastle 01-08-2001, 03:44 PM A little pricey for such an unattractive POS.

Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 03:45 PM So the Manual Wagon is $500 CHEAPER than the Sedan.
WOOHOO!
Don't foget the $595 shipping http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif
Midwayman 01-08-2001, 03:51 PM awesome! I was poking around there but couldnt find the magical page.... http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif
ColinL 01-08-2001, 03:52 PM Different gear box ratios than the 98-01 2.5RS and a 3.90:1 final drive. Looks like I have some updating to do on my gearbox page...
Uh, the stock wheels are 16x6.5 +55? That sucks. Oh no, a standard 130MPH electronic speed limiter. Won't be long before there's a gizmo to defeat that...
Sedan is 3085lb, wagon 3165lb. 8.0:1 compression ratio...no wonder Shiv thinks it's laggy.

xMetal 01-08-2001, 03:55 PM Oh, you're a bad boy. You weren't supposed to find that until tomorrow!
Nice Flash site, BTW.
Well finally all the rumors can be laid to rest. Compared with the competition, it's a pretty darn good deal, but they really need an STI version someday. Did you notice that only the sedan comes with the wide fenders?
And too bad about those lights...

poplife 01-08-2001, 03:59 PM I won't get the first run batch, but I will get one in about 3 years.
They tend to work out the bugs in the first go round and improve in the second phase.
I still think it is the best new car for the money.
It's still got an A-pillar antenna too. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/frown.gif Oh well if something happens to my RS (heaven forbid) hello WRX Wagon. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif
Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 03:59 PM Here's tomorrow's Press Release:
DETROIT, January 9, 2001 - Subaru today introduced the all-new Subaru WRX sedan and Sport Wagon, powered by a 2.0-liter, 227-horsepower turbocharged engine. The WRX models highlight the new-generation 2002 Impreza line that will reach Subaru dealerships in spring 2001. The All-Wheel Drive 2002 Impreza WRX models will offer performance in league with such respected all-wheel drive European sport sedans as the Audi A4 Quattro and the BMW 325xi.
Like every Subaru sold in North America since 1997, all 2002 Impreza models will feature the full-time Subaru All-Wheel Driving System for optimal grip on all types of road surfaces, dry or wet. With 217 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,000 rpm, the WRX can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.1 seconds (manual transmission).
In the 2002 WRX, the standard five-speed manual transmission is teamed with full-time viscous-coupling All-Wheel Drive. The optional four-speed electronic automatic transmission (4EAT) comes teamed with Variable Torque Distribution All-Wheel Drive (VTD), the most advanced All-Wheel Drive system Subaru offers in the U.S. market.
In addition to the turbocharged WRX models, the new-generation Impreza line for 2002 includes the 2.5 TS Sport Wagon, the sporty 2.5 RS sedan, and the SUV-like Outback Sport crossover model. A 165-horsepower 2.5-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine powers those models. All 2002 Impreza models feature enhanced performance, safety and refinement along with greatly expanded standard equipment levels.
Rally Car-Inspired Design
Inspiration for the 2002 Impreza sedan's wide-tread blister-fender design came from the Impreza World Rally Championship racecar, which won the World Rally Championship for three consecutive years. The WRX Sport Wagon's body design is characterized by pronounced fender flares instead of fender blisters.
Standard high-performance equipment in the Impreza WRX includes sport-tuned four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes with twin-piston front calipers and 16 x 6.5-inch alloy wheels with 205/55 R16 Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tires. Dealer-installed accessory 17 x 7-inch alloy wheels and 215/45 R17 tires are available. A viscous limited-slip rear differential ensures that the rear tire with the best traction receives the most power.
Smooth contours, upgraded trim quality and greatly expanded standard equipment help define the new Impreza models as premium sport compacts. Sporty WRX interior appointments include bolstered sport seats, a Momo four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and aluminum alloy pedals with rubber grips. The 2002 Impreza WRX models come fully equipped, including air conditioning, a six-speaker stereo, six-disc in-dash CD changer, keyless entry, power windows and door locks and a fold-down rear center armrest with trunk pass-through (sedan).
Standard safety features in every 2002 Impreza model include three-point seatbelts for all five seating positions (pre-tensioners and force limiters in front), a four-channel, four-sensor anti-lock brake system (ABS) dual front airbags, daytime running lights and a self-illuminating internal child safety trunk release. The WRX models add standard front seat side impact air bags.
Subaru of America, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. of Japan. Headquartered near Philadelphia, the company markets and distributes Subaru vehicles, parts and accessories through a network of nearly 600 franchised dealers across the United States.
Pipercub 01-08-2001, 04:01 PM Notice how they show the Gen ! Rally car despite the fact the Gen 2 rally car has been shown!
El Kabong 01-08-2001, 04:02 PM Oh man... the sedan has fold down rear seats!!! That's huge... I wish my RS had those... damn... if it's really $24k sticker, then I might have to think about this seriously...
Ah, I see, "Fold down rear center arm rest with trunk pass-through"...
hehe, not quite fold down seats.
[This message has been edited by El Kabong (edited January 08, 2001).]
Racer X 01-08-2001, 04:04 PM where is the sunroof? I couldnt see it listed anywhere and the pics dont seem to have one. It also seems heavy for a compact car. 3000 lb curb 4000 lb gross. Also the gas milage sucks. I guess its understandable though considering the engine. But the way we will drive(or me at least) expect to get closer to 12-15 miles per gallon.
kelley nelson 01-08-2001, 04:13 PM Pricing is great! Also notice the bit about the 2.5L engine. Horsepower looks the same, so the first gen RS' will be faster than the 2nd gen (in a straight line, anyway)
Mel 22B 01-08-2001, 04:16 PM Just the 411 on why the sedan is more coin.
The sedan has aluminum front suspension arms da wagon don't. Also the fenders are a bit more expensive...I believe.
(If someone already said this, I am just backing ya up)

Lil Bretto 01-08-2001, 04:20 PM C'mon guys! You all have to admit this is a damn UGLY/SLOW car...
Get your hands on some of the Aussie magazines down here which have done complete New Impreza reviews. This months does compares the New Impreza WRX Vs The Honda Integra Type R Vs the new Nissan 200SX (Silvia).
Who wins?? The 200SX with a 0-100km (0-60) in 6.5 secs followed by the Honda (6.9) then the ever slow New Impreza @ 7.4secs!
You'll all be VERY surprised @ how damn ugly it is!!
- Lil B
0-60 in 7.4sec? Someone needs driving lessons.
Necromancer 01-08-2001, 04:24 PM Waaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha!!!
GAWD I love SOA sometimes!! Wagons all the way!
In the UK they are what, 500 pounds, ~$700 more than the sedans! Much to laugh about today.
KavMan 01-08-2001, 04:26 PM Can anyone post up pics or a link to where i can see the WRX with the black covering the headlights, the rally cars
I've seen pics posted, can't find the post though
I think with the headlights like that its hella better looking then how it is now
[This message has been edited by KavMan (edited January 08, 2001).]
Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 04:26 PM The only other differences I can find are no Trunk release or Fuel cap release on the Wagon.
Strange, as I was expecting to pay more for the Wagon!
shawrf1 01-08-2001, 04:27 PM Wow. Just wow. I was expecting $26k+ and now with a dealer guaranteeing no more than MSRP, the next couple of months will go by a lot easier.
Also, if any of you were interested in webcasts of the Detroit show, check out the videos at http://www.theautochannel.com/cybercast/2001autoshows/naias/?CYBERCAST. The Acura webcast shows the prototype RS-X (integra). The WRX webcast will also be shown...
orbit03 01-08-2001, 04:29 PM This is sweet. The fold down seats also include an arm rest with pass-through. Great for skis. It also has variable speed wipers instead of three speed.
This car should be sweet!
Did anyone else play the game? Does it seem like Subaru is going to make a huge push to publicize rallying? I hope so. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
AlphaDog 01-08-2001, 04:33 PM YES! IT WILL BE MINE!
OK, there is a little bit to be disappointed with, but overall AWESOMENESS. Especially that sticker price. And did you notice how SOA is already targeting Audi and BMW? Very, very nice.
It will be mine. Shouldn't be hard to make this thing scream (and you gotta love those stock aluminum pedals).

With all due respect i think you are missing some very important points here:
1. We have no 200SX, no do we have a lot of other cars you have.
2. We have this thing called "snow" this time of year. It renders cars like the ITR and other non-awd performance cars all but useless. When the white stuff falls power to weigth ratios don't mean squat.
And ugly? Well that's a matter of opinion.
And 7.4? Someone was sleeping at the wheel!
Necromancer 01-08-2001, 04:34 PM Just brilliant! That website is so aimed at US, it might as well have been hosted by Alex himself (hmmm ... conspiracy theories...)
Note when you click on "See the WRX" -- you get sections like features and specs. No PHOTOS section! Haha!
"Hard Facts / Solid Numbers / Zero Fluff." *sniff* We could have wrote that!
For, who else would care about the red "NEW" markers in the spec sections but us? Certainly not catering to the Audi crowd there.
And I think they mentioned the presence of a trunk light at least 4 or 5 times in the spec pages. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif
stimpy 01-08-2001, 04:35 PM Oh, so now that bring out that 2.5l wagon. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/rolleyes.gif
Mel 22B 01-08-2001, 04:36 PM 0-60 in 7.4? Shouldn't have started in second gear.
The UK model (same as the Aussie I believe)apparently does that in 6 secs with only 218 HP. Dats right we got a HUGE 9 more HP in NA. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
SLOW???
'With 217 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,000 rpm, the WRX can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.1 seconds (manual transmission).'

Carbon Fiber Patterned Trim Kit

Adrian128 01-08-2001, 04:53 PM LIL BRETO. You're just jealous you can't afford one. And also..it hasn't been out for 4 months..the official OZ release was October..I would hardly call that 4 months. from where I sit, usually behind the wheel, I love the view, and from where you are, you better get used to the back of it, cause your little Razor scooter will never keep up with it... so..shut the f*@k up and get out of the way http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
goten 01-08-2001, 05:02 PM that new integra rims looks just like the WRX's option ones!!
Overtime 01-08-2001, 05:04 PM Four things:
1) It's great to be formally acknowledged. That's a professional grade site with a marketing spin to it that's aimed SQUARELY at us. Comparisons are just to impress everyone else...we all know that the suspension and engine characteristics are what we're looking for. Thank you, SOA.
2) That being said, fix the damn headlights.
3) I hope this is the beginning of a massive importing of Impreza aftermarket parts, STi and otherwise. Hopefully this will show the aftermarket we are a viable market and not just a "niche." Of couse, with that comes the problems of going mainstream...but we can't be 1 of 600 forever. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif
4) Speaking of which, I would be interested in seeing just how many items are backwards compatible...
Very nice site. The Rally Challenge keeps crashing on me, though.

Fred Zaplitny 01-08-2001, 05:13 PM Anyone else notice it's an open-deck block?
Clement 01-08-2001, 05:21 PM Also interesting to see SOA is putting the WRX up against the A4 and 3-series. I guess with no Silvia/200SX here, there really is NO direct competition with the WRX! The WRX's features make it look like a luxury sedan/wagon when compared to the Integra TypeR http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/rolleyes.gif
[This message has been edited by Clement (edited January 08, 2001).]
goten 01-08-2001, 05:24 PM with a little mod for more power, i think we should be putting the new WRX with the S4 and 330Xi
zzyzx 01-08-2001, 05:28 PM Also, didn't you notice the New Impreza now has an inline four (I-4)? Says so right in the comparison with the A4 and 325xi. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif
- Steve
P.S. Guess the website designers _aren't_ Impreza fans...
goten 01-08-2001, 05:31 PM when u see the specs pages
look at the pic shown for the interior
it's the old impreza with a STi shift nob and momo steering!!
Eric SS 01-08-2001, 05:32 PM 13.5psi stock and only 227hp!!! With some minor head work and a new set of cams, 300hp sounds easy!
Eric
Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 05:37 PM Goten - I think that is the new Impreza Interior - it's not OUR new Impreza though - that's a Momo wheel from a JDM/UK model.
ScoobyDriver 01-08-2001, 05:43 PM Lil Bretto - Chill out, Subaru is offering us a Turbo for the first time ever, this is our only option. Go out an buy yourself a nice used '93 ver I and go put-put in the outback. Let us enjoy what Subaru has done for us.
Thanks,
Shane Kullman
'98 RS Red
Adrian128 01-08-2001, 05:43 PM The Jap spec WRX has almost 260 hp...too bad we didn't get that one.
goten 01-08-2001, 05:44 PM look carefully...
the trim is not silver, and the A/C stuff is above the radio, also u can clearly see the box in the top of the center console
Clement 01-08-2001, 05:48 PM Heheh, goten is right. I didn't notice that at first either. But under Specs->Body Interior, the picture there is from the old Impreza with a Momo steering wheel.
BoomBap 01-08-2001, 05:51 PM wow. after all these months and months of waiting...very nice.
but...i just realized that the 23,995 msrp is only a couple hundred cheaper than a bmw 325i sedan. youch. even though i've been waiting for this for what seems like forever, it's going to be a hard sell.
JGard 01-08-2001, 05:52 PM DAMMIT! the WRX has daytime running lights!! no!!!! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/mad.gif
Stranger 01-08-2001, 05:57 PM ok. I given all the info to IGN

A. aka Stranger
Hmm...no boost gauge...
Must...have...boost...*drool*
Well, I guess I'll be taking tomorrow *cough* off *hack cough* sick to go visit my *hacks* dealer.
Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 06:04 PM The interior is not the "Polished Aluminium" that they have in Japan and the UK, can't believe I didn't notice that before (D'oh)
That's possibly one of the reasons we get the crappy looking Momo logo compared to the JDM/UK WRX, the Silver Momo logo would look out of place without the Aluminium Dash.
I think the radio is still above the AC though isn't it? I don't think the interior is any more radically different.
Edit: In fact check Under Features - Audio System, you can see that the AC is below the radio.
[This message has been edited by Bugsie1 (edited January 08, 2001).]
jagcars26 01-08-2001, 06:13 PM anybody notice under (performance),,they must have seen Banks "blue lite special" also the automatic went up 200 bucks
ok start the flames bout the auto cars!!
Rudy
kelley nelson 01-08-2001, 06:24 PM The automatic is a more expensive upgrade because it is using the more advanced VTD system. It costs more than the 4EAT, thus the greater price differential.
BoomBap, I suggest you go to BMWUSA.com and option up a 325i to the level of equipment found on the WRX. The base price of the BMW is tempting, but the options blow up the price in a HURRY.
ThePoobah 01-08-2001, 06:24 PM STANDARD FLOOR MATS!!! 'bout time.
glenstiles 01-08-2001, 06:42 PM YES!!!! Thank you Subaru for keeping the price down!!! What did I tell ya! The WRX is coming, the WRX is coming...I can't wait to test drive it!
Glen
ANZAC_1915 01-08-2001, 07:44 PM They are only comparing the power-weight ratio to the BMW 330ix and Audi S4. I don't think even Subaru would suggest it is in the same class.
It is a rugged, solid, AWD performance bargain.
The boost pressure they list is lower than what is listed in the press kit, interestingly.
I'm very happy about the MSRP too, of course.
Glenn
Eric SS 01-08-2001, 07:58 PM Now it's only a matter of time till we figure out how much OVER sticker the dealers are going to charge!
Eric
geez they just can't please anybody... me included... now instead of the cup holder blocking the air it blocks the radio...nooooo!
no rear wiper aggg
edit- 1st mod remove daytime running lights
2nd mod remove tether strap from gas cap

About the interior...
If you select "The Features", it shows the correct interior shot....
Also, you can see it under "The Features -> Audio System"
AAANnnndddd.... let me put the silver trim issue to rest here...
Under "The Features -> More standard features... please note "Silver Metallic audio and ventilation bezels."
So there ya have it. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif
What we need to remember is the designers only probably had a few shots to go with to get this together. And as almost anyone int he internet-tech relam of work can attest to it was probably a "gotta get it done NOW" flash site. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif
It is put together very, very well. Once of the best examples of flash I've seen to date.

Kostamojen 01-08-2001, 09:50 PM You guys are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too picky about this...
23,495/23,995 compaired to:
26,995 for the 325i with nothing on it
24,450 for the CURRENT Type-R (Marked up 1-2k by dealers, and they wont budge, and is bare bones as well)
24,450 for a Audi A4 with nothing on it
32,000 for the IS300
Its a freakin deal guys!!!
And that RS-X looks like a Civic coupe with the old integra rear end... Better than I expected look wise, but the new Civic drives like crap...
Eric SS 01-08-2001, 09:57 PM I agree. I would hapily pay that price for one of these! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif
Eric
rsquire 01-08-2001, 10:19 PM It makes perfect sense that we would want to model the 2002 Impreza WRX after a rally high-density performance car. We are looking to blow our competion out of the water and with the Rally tradiation behind us, we are ready for anything.

Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 10:40 PM Richard - too right! SOA are a little late to jump on the rally bandwagon but you have to appreciate they are now trying. You never know, with the new car they may have a winner and this could actually be excellent timing.
Do you think Peugeot would sell many 206s here? I would bet they would, I used to drive a 306 Turbo and it was f**king brilliant! Best FWD handling car I've driven.
ps. welcome back, can't remember you posting anything for a while. ?
TunerENT 01-08-2001, 11:12 PM Ok my opnion
I think subaru did a good job with this car although the bug eyed headlights are a dissapointment. Another bitch is the stereo. 80 watts? thats like my little brothers walkman. Im in the market for a car at the moment and i though i was probably going to get a wrx, but with the release of the new Sentra se-r im under heavy debate. Sentra has 180 hp and tq, 280 watt 9 speaker fosgate stereo with indash 6 disc. I know the impreza out powers this car and it does have awd, but the sentra weigs a cool 300 pounds lighter whish is a good 30hp diffrence. It also has a 6-speed and will get way better gas milage for 5,000 dollars less. What shall i do what shall i do
kelley nelson 01-08-2001, 11:24 PM ...and for me, I couldn't care less about the stereo. Looks like they came up with a descent compromise.
rsquire 01-08-2001, 11:33 PM Bugsie.. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
Now there's a name that doesn't post that often http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
OK.. Now lets compare the 206 viz a viz the upcoming "luxo wannabe saloon" S4/M3 equivalent http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/rolleyes.gif
The Pug @ Monte Carlo, Corsica and San Remo has an immmediate advantage due to it's short wheelbase and it's incredibly short over hangs. So that's 3 event in their favour, then there's NZ but we won't talk about that http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
The upcoming 4 door Impreza is at very many disadvantages,
1. the power train will fundamentally be the same as the 2000 car, which was beaten
2. it will have longer wheelbase
3. longer overhangs
4. more weight
and all this in a car that has already been comprehensively beaten in previous years, by Mitsuibishi and now Peugot?????
This, coupled with Marcus having now won a world championship will mean that they will be a very difficult combination to beat in 2001
Richard

Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 11:52 PM OK now you're getting too cryptic for me! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/redface.gif What's the "White One"? http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/confused.gif
rsquire 01-08-2001, 11:56 PM Oh It's just a little old Ford. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/rolleyes.gif
RS200
With slips for 575bhp and 470 lb/ft of torque
0 to 60 mph in 2.8secs
but hey it's a Ford!!! What the .... would they know about rallying http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
Richard
Bugsie1 01-08-2001, 11:58 PM oh yeah I forgot about the RS200, you know I lived in the UK for 21 years and I never saw one on the road, only at the RAC Rally way back and at the NEC car show in Birmingham.
That's some machine.
(kinda looks like a Neon....) http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/wink.gif
Dre2932 01-09-2001, 12:03 AM I'm going to have to agree with Lil Bretto. The new WRX is still ugly looking. Don't expect me to buy one of those..
rsquire 01-09-2001, 12:28 AM Bugsie.. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

Ps... the license plate 1 UFO has now reverted to it's original E 900 BAP

There's a guy here in RI that I used to work with ('92-'93) from the Holland who had one of those. He used to talk about it all the time. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif If I had one, I would too.
The best part was, I knew what he was talking about. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif He gave me a pic of the car that I lost shortly after that.
I had another dutch friend that used to rally an Ecsort Cossie. He filled me in on the details on the RS200 as his dream car, yadda yadda.
Would be nice to get that car stateside... after all, it's just a Ford. Not some super exotic like Lotus or Bugatti. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
jaybird 01-09-2001, 07:32 AM Nice job on the WRX & website SOA!
I'm stoked that we are getting this and they did us right with the MSRP. I even love the headlights. White wagon with P1s for in April for me.
You forieners have to realize us lowley american scum will never be as cool or as smart as you and don't deserve the cool cars you have. When we get something like the new WRX we appriciate it.
RacerinLSL 01-09-2001, 07:39 AM Why can't I access the page? It is not finding it. What's the deal?
Porter 01-09-2001, 07:41 AM I think they took it down. Maybe it wasn't due to be up until tomorrow?
macrac 01-09-2001, 07:41 AM looks like SOA took it down.
They probably noticed us peeking at it.
micah 01-09-2001, 07:44 AM I agree with Jaybird, what the he** is up with the complainers?
We are talking about a 230 hp AWD car for $24k! 3000 lb is heavy? We are talking about a 4 door, AWD car with 230 HP!!!! Somebody please name an american spec AWD car that weighs anywhere near as low as 3000 lb!
Sounds like risotto boys... "Ugly"... "Wheels are not huge enough"... "I don't like to have my lights on when I drive, it might make me look like a nerd"... It sounds like (horrors) Subaru focused on performance over looks! Since when did anyone ever buy a subaru for its looks?
I'm just stunned that people are whining about this car... they must be in some la-la land where 230 hp AWD sedans grow on trees, weigh 2300 lbs, and cost $15k!
</rant mode off>
cheers
mbs

Gearhead_42 01-09-2001, 07:50 AM Dang, yeah they locked it out... Glad I got a look before they did!
I was about to go back and play the rally game... probably for the best since I'm at work http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

macrac 01-09-2001, 07:50 AM He he....
I guess subaru didn't take kindly to us looking at it.
Notice the username/password protection now.
Oh well, guess we gotta wait until this evening.
Gambit 01-09-2001, 07:51 AM People will never be satsified. That is how they can justify it if they cannot buy one. <shrug>. I bet even if it came with 300hp and has 0 lag and can be tuned to 1000hp with teh stock turbo and Suabru still warranties the car and the price is US10K people will still complain....not enuf cupholders, no wing, too big a wing, etc.... It's how humans are. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/rolleyes.gif For me I am very happy. I want to car to be basic and price well. I hope it stays the same for future pricing. Fortunately for the Canucks, we don't have these stupid dealer markups. It's illegal! http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif
Keith 01-09-2001, 08:11 AM I agree. when I saw 24k I yelled out like a girl, and my gf was lookin at me like I was sick http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif
I dont know ne other car out there, with the tuning potential, awd, all those safty features, 227hp ..... (i can go on and on), for 24k! What other car would compare to this car. U can dump like 2 grand into it, and have MONSTer. how can u complain!!?! NEways, I am putting my order in soon.
Keith
Jay_UK 01-09-2001, 08:14 AM Damn...you Americans get everything cheap...
The UK sucks!!
But at least we can import the STI..and get the Evo http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

Rally Man 01-09-2001, 10:23 AM You just had to rub that in our faces didn't you?
Lil Bretto 01-17-2001, 05:02 AM Well it looks as though i forgot to read all the replies by all the yanks that have yet to even see the damn car!
Simply get yourself all a copy of MOTOR MAGAZINE here in Australia and check the back 5-6 pages where ALL cars are tested at their maximum power.
99/2000 WRX - 5.95 secs (0-100km/h)
2001 WRX - 7+ secs
As a 2000 Rex owner for the past year I can tell u that anyone who can do under 6 in a stock WRX must be an experienced driver!!
Like I've said before.....this car is just not selling here for 2 main resons..
1. The look of the front end
2. The power output compare to previous models
All I'm saying is prepare to be disapointed; everything you've heard over the past years of how 'WRXs' are the most powerful/cheapest lil pocket rockets of all time has now been put to rest! (import import import!)

(Owner - 00 WRX; hands on experience with 01)
ndmorespd 01-17-2001, 05:09 AM Lil Bretto,
You forget though....
WE DON'T GET THE 2000 WRX...
This is as close as we get, and for now at least most of us think this is a good alternative to getting stuck with JUST the RS...

JTaylor 01-17-2001, 08:55 AM I know I am a little behind on this topic, but there is a good chance you can disable the DRLs. In the case of the Lexus IS300, it was discovered that removal of a socketed resistor near the fuze block knocks out the DRLs. I would suppose there is probably a similar mod that could be done to the WRX.
That leads into another question: does anyone know if the headlights are auto-on? Most cars with DRLs now have automatic headlights that turn on at dusk. This is a good thing because a lot of people would be driving around at dusk with their 80% of high beam DRLs blinding oncoming traffic.
