You mean you don't have any idea? Try a Ford Expedition. They're sweet.

Their a little bit too boxy, I'm looking for something sportier with a more HP. Although, I think Audi is rounding the edges on that car next year.

Thanks for your input.

I was thinking WRX or 3 series BMW. But I don't know.

I got a good job.

Want to clarify a little? What are you looking for?

matt mcleod

want a coupe? then get a HONDA PRELUDE
want a sedan? then get an AUDI 1.8T (with quattro of course)
want a SUV? get a JEEP (any kind will do, though an XJ is the best all-round)
want a great car? get a new WRX

every auto above is at the top of their class, has won numerous awards, and they all have aftermarkets the size of Zaire! (if you so desire, TAP will put a 486bhp motoer and a 6-speed in your Audi, or they can tune the 4 to a little over 400bhp. quite nice.)

If not a WRX, go for the Audi. I had an Audi Turbo and you'd be amazed what TAP (Total Audi Performance) can do for a car. E-mail them or call them with questions, they have racing experience and they really know their Audi's.

Jeeps are fun, but not so much for the reliability factor. I've had a lot of friends with great luck, some with rotten luck. It's strangely black-or-white with Jeep, it seems. A lemon or a mint, whichever rolls off the line.

I think the best SUV out there right now is the new Nissan Pathfinder with the bigger engine. Too bad so many yuppies are buying SUVs, or they'd actually be cool, too. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

It's your last chance to get a Camaro SS or a Trans Am WS6... have you ever listened to one of those things? It makes me wanna cry!

Or a Mustang Cobra if refinement is your thing...

Buy a 2001 Impreza 2.5RS...then you will have the 10K left over to pay my consulting fee. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

IS300 = 0-60 in 7.5
WRX = 0-60 in AT MOST 6.0

IS300 = RWD (No for snow)
WRX = AWD (Yes for snow, mud, dirt, etc.)

IS300 = $32k base
WRX = AT MOST $25k

Its not that hard... No really http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smile.gif

Mustang? Refined? ROTFLMAO!!!

Get a new WRX.

Kosta - The mustang is refined relative to the GM pony cars. Apples to apples, eh? Drive a Cobra after driving a SS, and you'll know what RidinLow meant.

RidinLow
12-10-2000, 08:30 AM
Yeah, I guess I should've said "relatively refined." :P

whatever
12-10-2000, 08:58 AM
This is a joke right??!! You bring up a dumbass question like that on an Impreza board, knowing the new WRX is coming out with everything you seem to be looking for, and probably the exact price!!?? Are you just looking for attention, do you want us all to say...man your so lucky- do we care if you have a "good Job", get a life, make a decision on your own..how good of a job could you have if you can't make decisions on you own?? hey man..WHATEVER!

I'll never buy a Camaro, Mustang or anything RWD for that matter. I've been through that stage in my life already (high school) also they are not very practical. I gotta be able to drive my new car year round(rain, snow, etc.). I think when you factor everything into the equation, the WRX is the best car I can get for the price. Reliable, power, looks? It's just a shame I can't get this car for a few months. Do you people think it will live up to all it's hype?

Whatever,

The only reason I said I had a good job is that someone posted a reply that said "where did you get 25k-30k". After I sent my reply I went back to the board and the message was gone. As for posting a question like this on a Subaru board, as you can see by the responses, alot of Subaru experts have some depth in their knowledge on other automobile manufactures, as I knew they would.

Thanks for your input

These new requirements in mind, I still say you should check out a base Audi A4. The reliability factor has gone up tremendously, lately, with the newer models.

In the same family, you could check out a VW Passat 4Motion, though the price is liable to be MORE. Definitely give the WRX a shot, though.

With these new requirements in mind, I'd say either an A4 Avant 1.8tq or wait for the WRX wagon. The available-with-an-auto-tranny-only V6 4Motion Passat is too damn slow.

Will667 - It will be a great car. It will live up to the hype. Be patient.

Also - Thank you for the benign response to the troll.

I say a 01 2.5RS and a trip to Rallispec.. http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/biggrin.gif

Siper2
12-10-2000, 10:32 AM
Oop...crap... I hadn't considered aftermarket add-ons immediately post-purchase.

Now there's a damned fine idea. Rallispec.
Yep, do that. Seriously. Get a '00 RS if you can find one (save some bucks over an '01), and get a WRX engine conversion and an STi suspension setup. That's what I'd like to do if I ever get the cash!

I'm thinking the same price range right now, I'm looking at a Passat 1.8t or a A4 1.8t both with 4wd. Both with body kits. Can't figure it out.

Well if you just wanted something slightly bigger then the Impreza 4DR I would have said look at the Legacy GT but since the H6 engine isn't out in the Legacy GT yet you can skip that one. Then again you could always pick up one of the already turbo'd RS's taht keep popping up for much less then what you are looking at spending. If it has to be new and you want something more for a family then go look at an Audi.

why don't you get an impreza for like 20,000 that they are selling. I would buy that and spend an extra 10k to rally it out. that is what i did. i bought a 14,000 and spent 6,000. Why buy a RS for 20,000 and spend nothing. So either wait for the WRX and get the extra HP or buy a 2001 RS and rally the hell out off it. My car is probably now faster than a stock RS and i only put 400 in the engine. granted i put 3,000 in the suspension and rally equiptment. I don't know, but a hummer!!! *shrug*

In my book, hands down a used Supra ('93 and up) - IMHO, best bang for the buck of any ar at any price.
