I feel bad for JJ.... sucks to be ripped off and forced to wait and on top of all of that not get exactly what you want... If you put up with it--and those Acura ********s apparently do--it will never end. I'm very impressed with the overall honesty of Subaru dealers as reflected by comments on this board.

Easy on the Cougar crowd J-spec. Not that I'm some devout Cougar fan, and not that I think it's all that great of a performance car, but due to the fact it is based on a Ford Contour chassis, there are many mods available for it; including both Vortech and Paxton superchargers. They were going to make a Cougar 'S' version with SVT Contour components, which would have made it a very good performance car for the money (note what I drive http://www.i-club.com/ubb-files/smilies/smile.gif), but they ended up not wanting to put SVT parts into a Mercury.

Just sticking up for my fellow CDW27 enthusiasts.

Why is the MDX even in high demand?

Oh wait, I remember.... Americans like giant vehicles that handle poorly, protect you in an accident by destroying whatever you're in the accident with. Now, they won't buy it if the badge says Honda but if it says Acura, jump on the bandwagon.

I think the true mind-bender is this: How can these people who spend $35-40k on a pointless vehicle such as this not be able to afford a headset for their cellphone?

i actually like the mdx. its a fairly good lookin suv, its got gobs o' power (240 it think) is 4wd, and is made by honda. dont flame me, i like honda. they make dang good cars for a fair price. its just the kids that mess them up w/ 5 foot wings that i hate.

if i ever get a suv, it'll prolly be something like the mdx.

Don't make me laugh at Honda's 4WD. That is FWD until slipped. LOL!

MDX is a nice substitute for the mini-van. Does it worth the trouble get ****** by Acura dealers? Not in my book.

You guys should be focusing your criticism at those piece of sh_t American suvs, and cars which are clearly of another class due to massive size, and these little moms climb in them and drive them terribly.

That's one thing about America (don't think for a minute that im Canadian, lol), the bandwagon and image issue.

Besides the fact that the philosophy for American cars is bigger is better (BS, cause I've proved many POS v8 camaros, mustangs, trucks, whatever wrong with my 4 cylinder Honda, power to weight ratio people!!!)

America has no sense of efficiency (saving energy, garbage, etc.) but enough of the negative aspects. I mean after all I choose to live in this country,haha.

You guys know where im going with this.

I strongly suggest that legislature pass into law a new class of licensing for vehicles that are over a certain size (maybe class E in CA), where the people driving unneccesarily big SUV's need to get special training to drive.

It would benefit us all.

Rolling off Topic, but did you know a 'Vette can get 38 mpg? true, you can't drive it like a vette, but on a highway trip recently (about 500 miles total) a friend of mine averaged 38mpg. big american V-8's can be fuel miserly, but the people driving them don't try. Lot's o Torque and overdrive can run up there with the four cylinders in mpg.

actually unlike the CR-V's so called realtime AWD, the MDX's AWD is very efficient. Much like the H6's AWD system.

I don't think it's up to the level of VTD but closeto (or steal from Subaru) normal AT Subarus' AWD system except it is 100/0 power split.

Well, I have to say I'm appalled at the behavior of the people on that board--never mind the ****less moderator. Th immaturity and disrespect would be expected at club-Si, where the average member is 17, but I would have thought Acura MDX owners would be a bt more... grown-up.

I guess you don't appreciate what you've got until you see what else is out there.

Not that I would ever advocate such a thing, but somebody needs to burn that board down!

It's been a while since I've posted, kinda been in the background for a while, but this caught my attention, and my temper.

I realize that not everyone has a pleasant dealer experience when he/she goes to buy a car, but that is not to say that the rest of us have terrible experiences too. Acura dealership I have found to be some of the most friendly and helpful dealerships around. In fact, my father has gone to them for 4 cars in a row now, going on 5 in a few months. He has bought the first Integra as soon as it canme out, the next gen Integra as soon as it came out, the current gen Integra as soon as it came out, the first gen CL as soon as it came out. He was going to get the MDX when it came out, but he talked to the dealer who told him to wait because they didn't want to give him a bad deal. They admitted that they were telling all of their customers that at a profit loss to them, just so they would help the customers out cash-wise. Now, I had never heard of a dealer telling someone not to buy a car because its too expensive!

As far as the demand for the MDX, it was a concept car last year, remember? Just like the CL was back in 96. There was so much enthusiasm for it that Acura went the extra step to make it a production car, something that rarely, if ever, happens. That and the fact that it won Sport Utility of the Year from Motor Trend because of its excellent on- and off-road capabilities, something that most American sport utes can't hold a candle to. Mate that up with a gem of an engine (you guys have to admit, Honda makes some of the best engines out there) which is torquey and smooth at the same time, with a 4WD system that is AWD during ANY acceleration and FWD when cruising for fuel economy (when was the last time you heard of a sport utility focusing on fuel economy at any time?).

Sorry for the flame, but it hurts me to see what is usually a great BBS turn ugly when a certain car or manufacturer is mentioned.
