View Full Version : The Best Subaru dealer?
ComradeFlynn 06-18-2001, 04:48 PM Ok everyone, I need your help here. In the Corvette world there are three very well known Chevy dealers that go above and beyond the call of duty to people buying Corvettes. They give them good deals, are honest, ect.
The one Subaru dealer I went to tried to tell me that all WRXs have a $5000 markup price. Obviously this is absurd. I need to find an excellent Subaru dealer, as I have a bit of an odd situation I'd like to discuss with them before I purchase a WRX, and see if a special deal can be worked out. Thank you all for your help!
Hyudra 06-18-2001, 05:11 PM Wow, that sux for you. At the dealer I went to there were like 10+ WRX's on the lot, and all without markup.
Prestige Subaru of Asheville, North Carolina
Troncalli Subaru of Atlanta
Mastro Subaru of Tampa, Florida
All are on the other side of the country, but I'm sure the savings would probably make it worthwhile.
FWIW, I bought my RS at Prestige and I'd buy again. :)
b_tapper 06-18-2001, 05:37 PM Bianchi Subaru in pgh :D
Cortana 06-18-2001, 08:10 PM If you live in San Jose, as your profile says, you definitely should talk to Subaru of Santa Cruz. Not only are they perhaps the best service department anywhere near Northern California by reputation, they're also known for being extremely mod-friendly, even to the point of offering installs for some well-known components.
And they're not too bad on price either, from what I hear.

JJTheSubeDriver 06-18-2001, 09:21 PM Flatirons Subaru in Boulder, Colorado is the best dealer I have had dealings with so far.
ndmorespd 06-19-2001, 03:32 AM You may want to consider asking the same question in the Bay Area Forum... Instead of getting all of these goofy out of state names...
Anyway I think even if you did manage to ask in the Bay Area Forum you would still get the answer you already got above... Santa Cruz... Unless you know someone special (hell I know the local GM and I get nothing special... (UNCLE @ that!)) they have GOT to be the best...
If you are prone to go for a SoCal dealer (or seeking mods before purchase) I understand Irvine Subaru is the place to go... they have a web-site, not sure what it is, but I am sure a good web search will find it well...

#25 (REMEMBER EVERYONE, Races in Sacramento this weekend!!!)
Kostamojen 06-19-2001, 04:59 AM Dont go to the San Jose Subaru dealer! They are E-V-I-L!!!
Anyway, Maita Subaru up here in Sacramento is really good... No mark ups for ordering, and real low-key, no-hassle type of dealer.
Gold Rush Subaru up in Auburn, CA is good as well... Even LESS hassle there, with no mark ups on any cars on there lot... They even got the subaru dealer of the year award I believe for California.
BTW, what races ndmorespd??? Autocross over at mather, or something else? PM me! (and turn yours on :p)

Peaty 06-19-2001, 08:14 PM My dealer here in Lawrence is very good. Good salespeople and very good mechanics. Mod friendly too.

ComradeFlynn 06-19-2001, 08:48 PM Following the advice of several of you, I called Santa Cruz Subaru. Wow! What an absolute pleasure it was. Absolutely straight forward, no B.S. He (Sandy was his name) told me he had several WRXs in stock (including the exact one I was looking for) and offered it to me at MSRP! I didn't even have to haggle.
I'm going to go down Thursday to try to work out a deal. The jist of it is I want an STi. That's really the only car I wanted, but due to an unfortunate incident involving my Corvette, I need a new car NOW. So Stacey and I briefly discussed me buying a WRX then whenever the STi comes he'd give me a pretty good trade in deal. Anyways, it looks like I'll soon be leaving the Corvette world for the Subaru world!
Oh, also, what basic mods should be done to improve performance? I'd like to break into the 13s at the very least and would like a mod/price list (this will be for a 5 speed).
Thanks!
Kevin
Cortana 06-20-2001, 12:00 AM Honestly, if you're going to trade in your car in a year or two, dont' mod it. The WRX is fast enough as is to keep you happy, and every mod you do will a: cost you wasted cash if you can't move it to the other car, b: cost you trade in money if it's still on the car at trade-in time.
Kostamojen 06-20-2001, 04:04 AM For 13's? Message Imprezer ;)
jk147 06-20-2001, 06:46 PM World jeep at tinton fall, NJ.
Talked to several guys at the edmunds.com forum. Called up the dealer and the guy (Marty) gave me a quote for 1200 under msrp(not a demo.) You guys should check him out, he was straight forward about it the whole time... I just put down a deposit and picking the car up on the 29th!
jmott 06-20-2001, 06:54 PM You could probably hit 13s with a $30 dollar manual boost guage, intake kit ($100-200) and full exuahst (aprrox $1k)
just a guess though
target 06-20-2001, 09:53 PM All Subaru dealers are GOOD. Just BAD Salespeople.
JZ oo7 06-21-2001, 04:21 AM Subaru of Santa Cruz is the best dealer in the Bay Area if not the whole CA or maybe even the western US. their team is very good. great people. i am more than willing to drive 2 hours to get my car serviced there!
