for what it is worth on my 2002 WRX I went Cobb Stage II at 65,000 miles and it died at 150,xxx. . .due to my house being flooded! I ran the piss out of that car (changed oil and did all my own maintenance) and I never had any issues with the motor or the " Glass" tranny so to speak. many many 13.2 - 13.3 passes at the strip as well. Next Subie will imediatly have an AP on her! Just my .02

We are very interested in all forms of feedback from customers that use our products. I will note that we have seen very few engine-longevity related issues with our maps as they tend to be conservative. That said, it is hard to say how a given vehicle's longevity will be affected by tuning and performance driving. We endeavor to offer safe and reliable tuning for daily driving and performance driving applications.
With a car that has an AccessPORT installed and then 15 minutes later spins a bearing, we would very much like to know the history of that car that lead up to an engine failure of that nature. While excessive knock COULD cause an engine to fail in this manner, usually over-revving and oil-starvation are the culprits especially on a 2-liter. Also, if an engine is driven overly hard or in some form of racing setting, other factors can play into shortened engine life like insufficent oiling and breather systems or even over-taxed fuel systems. That said, it seems like a good majority of the users on this forum understand these concerns and know that COBB Tuning offers a quality tuning product that we stand behind 100%. Please, keep the information coming; the more the better. Travis COBB Tuning |

I have the stage 2.5 map that John at Cobb released a few years ago, I worked with him over phone and email with a few revisions to get it tweaked out, and also worked on a 100 octane map with him too. Both involved a significant amount of datalogging, sending results, phone calls, revise, repeat for about 2 weeks. Then he suddenly disappeared and stopped returning my calls
But, I've been running that map for about 20k miles so far, not one problem. Dynoed at 300hp to the wheels. Haven't dynoed the 100oct map yet, but it should improve significantly over the 93 octane map. Edit: Not one problem at all. John, if you see this thanks! |

Did you floor it right after the AP flash. I did not drive my car hard for at least a day after the flash to give it some time to figure things out.

Ive had the AP for over 3 yrs now and i run my car pretty hard, 3 yrs on stg 2 map, no cats at all, SPT intake and TBE, even ran a BOV for a while not one problem. Well i get a bit of boost creep in 3-5th gear but im sure thats from the catless up/DN pipe and its not bad just a few pounds.
Very happy with the OTS map. Given the wide range of conditions any car with a OTS map could encounter i think they have done a fantastic job of givving us a map with good power gains and reliablity. |

I think driver habits/procedures/errors weigh much more heavily in an engine that blows that is running AP stage whatever. There are so many variable to consider its mind numbing. Did the driver flash to the correct map for his/her setup? Are the parts utilized quality pieces? What was the condition of the engine before the flash? Was there over-revving? etc.. etc... |
