first of all they are described for off road use only.
if you decide to put it on a street then don't drive like an asshat. that is a risk YOU decide to take. Keep the speed for the track. Pleanty of people use the JDM beam that is weaker then the Oswald beam. This beam is a quality part, the welds are great and the weight is amazing compared to the stock beam. Very easy to install, took me an hour with hand tools. If you have air tools it would probably take almost half the time. Being the front end of the wrx/sti is so heavy any weight removed from the front makes a big difference in acceleration, braking and handeling. it is advertised for road racing and autox racing but it is also great for those who use thier car for the 1/4 mile. OK. Not exactly sure where that came from. Are you advertising? A rebuttal to something? What?
And I'm actually interested in this beam for my track car. |

Name aftermarket performance parts that are not sold listed as "only for use in off-road racing." Seems par for the course IMO. What you expect them to get NHTSA crash tested and approved?
good luck on that. |

There was an earlier thread on here about not running the stock subframe. The Oswald subframe came up as an alternative to not only save weight bit to stiffen the chasis. Then led to other ways of saving weight to improve handling. So the Oswald bumper beam came up.
I had both on order the beam came Sat so I figured I would give a short update. My subframe should be here soon, can't wait. The quality of the front beam if you are thinking about it for your race car then go for it. The rear will be out on Dec that will save another 23lbs. Not advertising just very impressed with the quality and customer service. Know people here were thinking of getting his products and it does effect handeling o figured this would be a place to put it |

I have been running Mickey's ultra-light bumper beam (2.5 lbs) and subframe for 8 months or so now. They made a huge difference in turn-in and transitions. I found the Oswald Performance subframe to be of superior design to other more costly units. I have had zero issues with either. Then again I keep some extra room between myself and the car in front of me on the freeway.

Version 2 is a simpler stronger and less expensive design.

The new design weighs the same as the old design but is slightly less expensive and is stronger due to a deeper C-channel and the reduction of welds on it. It can also be built much faster which allows me to keep them in stock rather than building them to order.

Just wanted to say that I used to own a brand new 2004 350Z and it had an aluminium front bumper beam (OEM). I wonder what the weight is one that... i do know that it does take an impact. I crashed it onto a tree square and did it's job, i'm still walking.

Haha, I know, I know. The Bugeye beams are fairly different from the other's so it's taking longer than I expected.

I am planning to work on the '08+ once I am done with the bugeyes and my new rear brace for GD sedans. I have a buddy with an '08 STi so that should make it easier for me (although I haven't asked to borrow his car yet).

Exactly.
A couple who were good friends of mine were driving normally on a 2 way road. An on coming car suddenly moved from his lane, crossing the yellow line, and smashed into them head on, killing them instantly. The couple was NOT "driving like an asshat". ![]() |
