Regarding engine specs:

It's a rocker-style turbo DOHC engine with 8.5 CR and open deck block (MY92-93) out of a Legacy GT (AT). Cams are indeed a bit milder than the RS ones.

Here's another really stupid question, what weight of oil is recommended for this motor? Also I have heard different things about the coolant.

Same as any other Subaru EJ-series turbo. If seals are not to be replaced be careful with 100% synthetic oils.
