Hey guys, the last car i owned had a mailing list. It was really convenient and i personally think better than a forum.
We could set up a free mailing list and use that in addition to the forums. If i can get enogh people i'll set it up and we can use that too. I like email better.
Lemme know what you guys think.

Sorry! My other car has a e-mail list and I hate it. Kinda like looking in a cage. This forum is fun...lots of room to roam.:)
Hope you find more buddies!

I'd be interested. This forum has way to much graphics IMO. Maybe a text only version of this board similar to: http://z31.com/board/ ? Oh yea, Yahoo has a subie one but most of it's members are in the UK (last I checked).

Personally, I prefer to receive email, though I don't mind posting via the web. The best set up for me would be web forums like this but with ability to subscribe to notifications by forum. The forums at http://photo.net/ are an example of this. When a new message is posted, it is immediately sent to the subscribers. A link in the message lets you easily come back to the forum to reply, etc. I have done something similar, externally, with another site, http://f650.com/. I have a perl script that runs once an hour to identify, download and email the messages. Supporting i-club this way would be more difficult due to the number of forums and the number of potential subscribers (I currently add subscribers to my script manually).
A PHP hack for vBulletin would allow emails to be sent for new posts and also allow users to manage their own forum subscriptions. There has been talk of a hack for this on the vB forums, but I don't think it is quite ready yet. I guess I could download vB lite and try to write a hack, but I would not want to waste my time if Nick or Imprezer were not interested in it.

There is a very good mailing list, but it's essentially all technical-oriented (ie: no off-topic). To check it out/signup:
