Cop pulled me over last night on 137th for tint on my front windows (although it was dark out and he was behind me  ). Just a light tint on the fronts done in Ontario where it is legal. Although I know it ain't supposed to be there, I see many cars with near limo tint on the fronts. Subie profiling or general crack down?

He just told me if I planned to visit Edmonton often, I should think about removing it. What do you guys think?

I think EPS likes to pull over import cars a lot more that CPS or any RCMP.

It may have to do the "CRX" gang that caused a lot of problems 10 or so years ago.

Ask him what law he is thinking of, which specific section.
AFAIK it is not illegal to have tint on the front windows in alberta, but it is illegal to install it...
Sounds like semantics, but it isn't ...

Cops here have always been after tint. I have a really light shade on my fronts, havent been bothered yet. I have even been through a couple checkstops and no one has said anything. (knock on wood) But I guess having it you better be prepared for when the time comes.

Explain that one. Legal to have it on but illegal to install it. As far as any of them would know you can say it came that way from the factory. Just doens't make as sense but I have no idea what the laws is. I do see tons of cars with dark tint on the fronts here and haven't heard of too many getting tint tickets.

It must have something to do if they are having a good day or a bad day. I was pulled over last year in a very small out of the way town in northern B.C. (chetwynd) for my tint, yet where I live I have had cops come up check the car out, compliment it and take off. I have 5% on all the rear windows and 30% on the front two. The car being black doesn't make the front tint stand out too badly.

Unless they pull you over specifically for the tint. Then they'll ask you to roll up the window so they can check.

I was specifically pulled over for the tint and he made me roll up the window. I think when he realized I wasn't some young punk he let it go. Wonder if they keep a note on "file".

I'll just have to get a job with the EPS and then my plate will be registered as being a member = no tickets :D .
