View Full Version : anyone heard of TranQuil Snout Repair kit DaFastOne 05-22-2006, 08:20 PM i found this on hot-subaru and was wondering if anyone knows anything about this product. eddie1982 05-22-2006, 10:27 PM never heard of it Storm 05-22-2006, 11:47 PM Someone else was making a snout fix kit. It's a steel insert that slips over the snout of the trans input shaft and provides a longer lasting surface for the throwout bearing to slide on. Over time, the aluminum snout cast into the trans wears, allowing the bearing to lose it's center and wear out sooner as well as have bad effects on clutch action. Jay Storm Dan Cech 05-23-2006, 10:00 PM I just installed one in my Legacy along with a new clutch and flywheel. No complaints here, though make sure that no pieces of the polystyrene packaging are stuck in the throwout bearing before you install it (I had to flick one piece out). lookitsawagon 05-23-2006, 10:06 PM I have the 'other' snout kit on my 1999 OBS-- it's made by PDM, not sure if they are around anymore. It saved me from having to buy a new trans case, as the old TO bearing wore a mean groove in it. The clutch has never been 'right', though, so it's not an end-all fix for all clutch woes. But if the snout is grooved, it can't hurt to put it on... Legacy777 05-24-2006, 02:53 PM The tranquil kit is made by PDM, and they are the only ones making this kit. From the people that have installed it, it's been a good product and does help. |
