View Full Version : 255/35/18 under 06 WRX on S-techs
spiltheflagon 05-22-2006, 10:45 PM What do you guys think? Can it be done, or should I just go with 245's, I know it depends on what tire, make. I am not familiar with what tires tend to be wider. I would really appriciate the help.
thanks alot
Justin
ommmjido 05-23-2006, 03:02 AM probably need to roll ur fenders.
spiltheflagon 05-23-2006, 05:00 PM I already figured that would need to be done. I am worried about spring and strut contact. Does anyone know if I should be ok.
thanks
Zrex11 05-23-2006, 06:45 PM it will depend a bit on the offset of the wheel you choose, for instance i have 245's on 18x8.5" gram lights with a +45 offset, im lowered on stechs with nitto NT01's and i think that if i had a 255 under there it would not certainly rub on the outside of the tire w/o having rolled the fenders. with maybe a 17" wheel with 7.5-8" depending on the offset as well of course i think it may be doable.
spiltheflagon 05-23-2006, 11:10 PM 18x8 45 offset, I just need to make up my mind and do it or just go with 245/35's

I would not go with a 35 sidewall. A 40 at the lowest. It will just look weird on 18's. Also your chances of screwing up a nice set of wheels are a lot greater with 35. There is no need for a 35 sidewall unless your are like super lowered. Just my 2 cents.
Turn in Concepts 05-24-2006, 09:39 AM Actually, a 245/255 35 18 is about a perfect match to the stock 215 45 17. A 245 40 18 would have a sidewall that is too tall. Remember, if you increase the width of the tread to increase the height of the sidewall. Not all sidewalls with a 35% aspect ratio are the same height.

Beat me to it, I just don't know what fits under a subie.
Uncle Scotty 05-27-2006, 11:03 AM ...yer tryin to stuff too much tire under it unless ya gonna run more power.....a good bit more power
'fits' and 'works' are 2 different things

well I know both would be the correct word to use in the future. I think I am going to try the 255/35 setup, but I might go ahead and throw some money down on coilovers so that I can adjust away from the tire. Instead of taking my chances with springs. GT35R is in my future, but I was also thinking I would run 245/35's until I am making that so called good bit more power.
Thanks for the help guys, I will post and let you know whatI Chose to do.

David Glasscock 05-27-2006, 11:25 PM i'm running 255 on an 18x8.5 wheel. the tires are pontenza e70, i need a two finger gap between the wheels and fender so i dont have any rubbing. as it is now i will rub on some bumps or hard driving. my wheel and tire combo was a pain in the a@@ for the tire shop to mount. not sure what the reason was but it took them 2plus hours to mount 4 tires.... hope this helped..
p.s running work emotions wheels
spiltheflagon 06-21-2006, 07:20 PM Well, I am still waiting for my wheels unfortunatly. My WORK XD9's finally shipped out in 18x8. Yes I still want a wider tire on the wheel and I know people have put the 255/35 on an 18x8 wheel with success.
I was hoping someone has had the chance to put this tire size under the 06 WRX platform, since I have waited a long time since this post.
Does anyone have any cons against this tire size on that wheel size other than soft side wall. These are daily wheels, and I will have 17's for autox. I just like to look stricking and mean from the rear + I should have the larger turbo setup before the end of the summer.
thanks
Justin
