I getting ready to buy some new tires. I can't make up my mind on which ones to get. My options are

255/40/17 victoracers( $625 shipped tirerack)
or
245/45/17 v710's $ 486 shipped to the door (buying them from someone, never been mounted)

04 STi
17X8.5 +40
oem struts
elisper springs
stranos FSB
hotchkiss RSB

I ran 245/40 hoosiers on it last weekend with no problems. I plan on doing 1 or 2 trackdays as well this year. I know victoracer would be a better bet but for the price it's hard to say no to the v710's.

After using victoracers for years, I switched last year to 710's. Not ever close, not even in the same league, and they seem to last FOREVER!

Well if you going to do track days on these tires. I would not get the Victors as the v710s will probably get too hot on the track.
I say get some Hooiser R3s04's or 5's. Check here as they are on discount.

I switched from Victoracers to V710s last season and the difference was stunning. The shocker now is how slowly they wear (I was expecting them to wear out much faster than the Victos did). I've got 2 track days (1 at CMP "West", 1 at CMP full course), *several* autocrosses (some with codrivers) and a 24-hour autocross event with several fun runs by various drivers at that event. After all that, even the two main grooves are still there!

(FWIW, this is on a Street Mod (but still N/A) 2.5RS on 225/50-15s.)

No contest - the tires have nearly different purposes.

Yea... For what I'm looking for I should have got the victos but since the v710's were over 100 cheaper....... so I bought them last night :devil. I can't wait till the next AX.

... especially if warm ... try RA1's ... get them used here:

See Clearance/Used

These are 235/40/17's off of their World Challenge cars. A friend got the $50 ones ($100 ones also available) and he was surprised how much life and tread were still in them. He's running them on an ESP Forester ... that gets stunning acceleration with these short tires (and short Forester gearing) ... great for AX
