View Full Version : Secondary Cat Pipe by MadDad
Daddy's SCP 05-26-2006, 05:59 PM Ok guys(and gals out there), here is one occasion where we had a part made and waited till we had it in hand before announcing it. With that I would like to introduce everyone to the new MadDad(TM) Metal Secondary Cat Pipe. The bullet points sum it up.
http://www.daddysscp.com/forumpics/2ndcat.gif
This pipe will have a regular resale of $349.95 including gasekts at both ends. Now through June 9th you can grab one for $309.95(plus freight).
DIRECT SHOPPING CART LINK TO PURCHASE (http://www.daddysscp.com/dcart4/product.php?productid=149&cat=10&page=1)
These are in stock right now.
It goes without saying that this pipe combined with a Stromung or Crucial downpipe makes for a nice setup. We've got Stromung DP's on back order right now but when we get them back in you'll be able to nab yourself a sweet metal substrated divorced downpipe setup for just $499.95 in a combo deal(it's like McDonald's). For you California dreamers we can even offer a dual cat setup with a MadDad(TM) Metal V2 shorty and this pipe. Expensive...you bet, but where else are you going to get a dual metal substrate setup with all the niceties and made in the USA.
Dual cat setup. The MadDad(TM) Metal V2 Shorty now has the aux. 02 bung for a wideband/tuning just like the V2 one-piece models.

Like everything right now the Stromung pipes are on back orders. Whisper are hitting production hopefully today or Monday.
$1125 + freight at least through June, then it will creep up $25.

new_forester 06-02-2006, 02:55 PM Rich,
I sent you an email regarding getting a secondary pipe at the sales price but wanted an update on production of the Forester XT version of the Whisper to avoid mutliple purchases.

The shipment of the first FXT Whisper for testing keeps on being moving target. I've had a couple of false ship dates arleady. I'll ping your when I know what the deal is for sure.

Bishop 06-05-2006, 04:51 AM bumpin this for ya!
Daddy's SCP 06-05-2006, 02:35 PM We just had a customer fit a dual cat setup to his car and everything works great. Still a very noticable seat of the pants power improvement even without any reflashes and the factory catback still on the car(waiting for a whisper catback of course), though it has a slight leak since the 2nd cat pipe isn't meant for a donut gasket catback.
This may be the ultimate downpipe combo for the CA. folks.

firebox40dash5 06-05-2006, 08:11 PM Yup, I got the v2 DP and second cat pipe installed in about 5 hours saturday (first time trying it, and including a parts run to get tin snips for the stock heatshield, an oil drain plug for the wideband bung, and a drill and tap set to tap the same for my Autometer EGT probe) and all went off without a hitch! The butt dyno says this was a great mod, once I get the hardware for my UTEC, and the Whisper catback, I'll post some on-the-lift pics of the whole exhaust installed and a better idea of how wonderfully powerful my car will feel (mmmm.... Stg3.... ) The quality of both pieces is great, the stock o2 sensor wire is long enough for the revised (and much better) location, and the heatshield on the lower cat gives it a stealthy look. I got double cats because I was worried about the CEL and the environmental concerns of having the wastegate gases bypass the single cat. Yes, I know, I could've got a Prius if I was truly concerned about being Green, but what fun would that be? I've got a turbo, all wheel drive, and clean exhaust, all is right with the world! ;) And the exhaust leak would probably go away if I a) flipped the donut gasket around or b) use some copper sealant and torque the union some more, but all will be good by next week when my Whisper gets here! This is a great pair of products, at a reasonable price, that answers a question that I, and I'm assuming others, were asking. The only other way I found to have a full 3" DP with 2 cats was Random Tech, and that's flat-flange- bah! Seriously, I can't wait for the catback to get here :D

Ok Rich. Thanks. You can disregard my other emails and phone messages. Well, don't totaly ignore them... I still want the FXT Whisper. ;)
Keep on you fabricator to nudge them along on it. I am really getting anxious and the misses could cut the mod budget any day now.

What are they doing, mining the ore and then milling , rolling, and extruding the steel themselves?
So I can take advantage of the introductory pricing of the MadDad secondary cat pipe, can I order and pay for it now, and have you hold onto it until the Forester Whisper is ready to ship out so I don’t have to pay more by having to ship them seperately?
I assume if this is ok, I could just order it through your website, and then enter in something in the customer notes so that you are aware it is my order.

Do exactly that. I pushed again today. The issue is that pushes this out right now is stopping production of dozens of back order existing production ready products, some for MadDad and some for other private labels they build for. They look for some downtime between the larger runs to get the one-off type pieces done and it just hasn't happened yet, but I will keep pushing until they are sick of hearing from me.

sonic rex 03 06-26-2006, 10:30 AM Hi rich
will this mated up with bosal down pipe ( cat deleted down pipe) ?
thanks
simon
Daddy's SCP 06-26-2006, 12:50 PM Hi rich
will this mated up with bosal down pipe ( cat deleted down pipe) ?
thanks
simon
It will. Athough the bosal is a 2.5" the MadDad pipe uses a oval 3" flange on it's inlet so you can use it with any shorty downpipe. The ideal catless shorty setup would be Stromung or Crucial for general reference since these use the same oval 3" flange(for the same reason) giving you a bit better overal flow but by all means the bosal will work. Keep in mind this MadDad pipe ends in a 3" flat flange and not a donut taper so you'll need to mate it to an appropriate 3" catback or use our Halfback pipe to mate it up with the factory axleback or any 2.5" bolt-on.

sonic rex 03 06-26-2006, 01:50 PM Thanks for the quick reply. I have greddy evo cat back exhaust, I believe it doesn't use do-nut type of flange, Is that mean i can use bosal shorty down pipe+mad dad second cat pipe+ greddy evo cat back?
thanks again
simon
