Maserati announces production of MC12 Corsa

Maserati announces the production of the MC12 Corsa, a build-to-order supercar for a very selected number of Maserati clients who will enjoy the possibility to test their driving capability in the most exclusive gentlemen drivers’ environment.

The MC12 Corsa has been developed from the MC12 GT1 type which won the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup. It will be used exclusively on track during private test sessions - or exhibition activities organised by Maserati. It will not be homologated for road use or for any racing activity.

The Maserati MC12 Corsa – living testimony of Maserati’s ability to individually tailor make specially produced cars of the highest technological content - will be on sale at the price of 1,000,000 Euros (plus tax) starting from next Autumn. Available in the official Maserati “Blue Victory” color, it can be personalized upon request with several option items, starting from a different color upon request by the client.

Total production of the Maserati MC12 Corsa will not exceed 12 units worldwide.

Nice, but too expensive, even if I HAD the money. :) The wing seems too narrow in the rear, and I'm surprised the front tires are 14 x 18 just like the rears. I imagine this is RWD -- are the wide front tires to help reduce understeer, or is this thing AWD?

It is essentially the Ferrari FXX underneathe. So rwd. The wing is a bit surprising considering on the MC12 it extended out beyond the bodywork some at the base.

I find it somewhat amusing that Ferrari said we're only making 399 Enzos. Then they build some 40 Maserati MC12s. Then about 29 Ferrari FXXs and now 12 MC12 Corsas. Ohwell I think its kind of a waste to throw out that chassis and the technology after so few cars, especially considering how many Carrera GTs Porsche built.

Also supposedly Blue regular Maseratis have a price premium in the market. I'm not entirely sure why but I guess that's what Maserati people like at the moment. They don't have any significant history with blue cars.
