My USDM WRX GC8 swap bit the dust (skipped timing belt) hence the entire longblock is fairly toasted. I was wondering on the collective opinion on the easiest way to install an FXT motor instead as I may have access to one cheaper than I can have a shop replace all the bent valves, rods, and put it all back together properly.

I'm aware of the WRX cam sensor needing to be swapped over. I would probably just get the FXT longblock and try to use the rest of the WRX guts. The ECU's already ECUTek'd, so I can hopefully retune. Anything else I need to be aware of for swapping?

I'm doing the same thing but in an '02 WRX. I am also using a VF39, STI top mount, TBE, accessport, and the 2.5's fuel injectors. It should be a stout little package. If you need any pointers, feel free to PM me. I should be running in a week or two. (not because its hard but because I have been taking my sweet time.)

I think you are confused. He is talking about using the STI heads and cams.

If you are using WRX heads on a 2.5 Shortblock then cams should be done but I don't think it will be necessary with the 2.5 longblock.

Yeah, talking about swapping in the 2.5 longblock. I might have sourced a replacement 2.0 longblock, but we'll see, maybe the 2.5 will become a winter project. Uberspeed, thanks, I might just take you up on the offer when the time comes!
