Chery has unveiled its model, a New Crossover at the Hangzhou Motor Show in China.
The car, which was originally unveiled at the 2004 Beijing Auto Show under the code name B14 is a 6-7-seater minivan developed with independent intellectual property rights. Chery was assisted by Lotus Engineering and a couple of Italian companies in the development of the new vehicle.
V525 is the first member of the V5 family, powered by a 2350 cc locally-sourced Mitsubishi engine, capable of 95 kW @ 5500 rpm and 198 Nm @ 3000 rpm.
The car rides on a 2800 mm (110.2-in.) long platform. Main dimensions are: 4662 x 1820 x 1590 mm (183.5 x 71.6 x 62.6-in.). Standard equipment includes four airbags, ABS + EBD and traction control systems, electrically operated windows, GPS navigation, DVD player etc.
It will go on sale in China in June, and this will be one of the first models to be offered in North America.

JoeyW 05-31-2006, 09:17 AM cool, does visionary have a set date to when their arriving in America?
registering 05-31-2006, 10:07 AM Not bad, although I'm still not a fan of center-mounted gauge clusters. Any price estimates?
SCRAPPYDO 05-31-2006, 10:22 AM anybody else see audi Q7
BelvnAWD 05-31-2006, 03:38 PM Electrically operated windows...O.M.G!!!
Eyeflyistheeye 05-31-2006, 06:26 PM It's some kind of Volvo, Audi, Subaru Outback and Nissan bastardization.
Unfortunately for everybody else, this is a pretty good effort and they'll only be going up from there. Watch the Chinese get hungry for car dominance and improve each generation of their cars by leaps and bounds.
whpotter 06-01-2006, 11:22 AM The badge/logo might be uncomfortably familiar to the Infiniti lawyers.
MarylandEcstasy 06-03-2006, 12:32 PM That design looks disguisting. Nissan designers must be having a good laugh..its like they just threw it together.
Although, I will say.. its being brought over by the same person who brought over Subaru ages ago..
Hazdaz 06-03-2006, 02:30 PM ... and it begins.
It's some kind of Volvo, Audi, Subaru Outback and Nissan bastardization.
Exactly, introducing the 2007 chevy bastard
blk_wrx 06-03-2006, 02:47 PM what a pitty...just like the koreans, the chinese are not orginal with their designs...not only that chery is too close to chevy....almost like honda and hyundia...the chinese should just buy mitsu out and build from there...
Hazdaz 06-03-2006, 03:10 PM the chinese should just buy mitsu out and build from there...
I have been predicting that for quite some time now. If Mitsu plans on pulling out of the US market due to slow sales, I fully expect one of the Chinese automakers to step up and buy up their operations and dealer-network.
Also Chery has stated already that they will change their name when they enter the US market. My guess is something like Patriot Motors, Apple-Pie Automotive or some other over-the-top American sounding name - it will keep the rednecks from thinking they are buying a 'four-ren' automobile.
Kostamojen 06-03-2006, 06:41 PM I have to admit, i'm impressed.

To an extent... a lot of car companies are a hundred years old and back then they weren't really set up soley for profit. You know, they have roots and heritage... something these cars don't have.
Jeremy Clarkson had a good quote about this, but I've forgotten it.

silentbob343 06-05-2006, 02:21 AM I could see that with Mercedes, Ford, and some others.
