i blew a rod berring. not wanting to just replace the motor with the same 2.5 lgt. I invested in a 05 2.5 lgt turbo. I thought possibly I could get it running temperarly without swaping the tranny(its a manual). I havent recived the motor yet, but im having serious doubts that they will work together. I just need something to drive till i can get a new tranny. call me what you want i deserve it for not doing enough research, i found a motor it was cheep and I nabbed it. the motor is comes with ecu, all piping, wiring, turbo, intercooler, and clutch.

IIRC, the 05 legacy clutch is a push-type, so it should work with your transmission.

transmission is not an issue at all ... subaurs are like legos
i would use the 05 clutch

the wireing in an 05 LGT motor is NOT TRIVIAL though, its reallly intense its has the imobilizer and speed sensor via can bus from the ABS module issues (neither of which has been overcome that i know of)

no
the 05 lgt is the first car with a can bus
if the lgt dosn't see the speed signal it will be unhappy
the imobilizer is even worse .. the ecu won't even power up the main relay

I am the only one I know of who has done an MY05 Legacy swap. PM me or search under my name for details.

Hey Josh, glad to see you got it running. And that wiring was no joke from the look of it. Didnt you use an '04 Sti ECU?

As an update on Fred's conversion, he got a full header back exhaust for the motor you sold him. and Cobb CAI. so we will put the whole package together next month. He has been competeing in the local auto-x and wasnt ready to switch to SM with the swap.

Sorry didnt mean to hijack, have fun with your swap OP.
