ok, all that is left to my block is the super liquid gasket between the two block halves. Anyone know what tool to use to pry these 2 apart or any specific technique to use? Thanks,

Try using something thin, wide and strong to pry it open with. Or if you want to bang on it, use a brass or wooden hammer. I guess it depend on what exactly the case looks like, and where there are areas on the case you could smack with a hammer that would help loosen the glue stuff. Good luck!! -Andy SubyTechMaster 10-17-2001, 02:45 PM Are you sure it is ready to come apart? There are 6 hidden case-bolts in the water jacket that are often overlooked. At the dealership they have some brackets that bolt to the motor-mount hole on the block, these are what you should hit with a hammer to seperate the halves. If you hit on the aluminum block with even a soft-face hammer you risk deforming the aluminum. smacksube 10-17-2001, 11:06 PM yah, I got the water jacket bolts....a real bitch to get at too, 12 point 12mm on a 3/8" extension....kinda not standard. I broke one extension off in the jacket and had to buy a even more heavy duty one. I have avoided doing anything to the block that risks deforming the aluminum, but I'll pop down to the dealership and see what the deal is on those parts. Thanks alot. -Eric |
