I just did my timing belt, tensioner assembly, waterpump and the themostat. I took her for a test drive after the job to find her overheating a bit. I then noticed too that my heat wasn't working despite being on full blast. The cars runs great besides the overheating and no heat. No coolant leaks either. Note: I did remove the radiator for the timing belt job. What could be wrong? I've added more and more coolant cycling on the AC and all. Still no heat.

Over heating a bit? Did you purg ALL the air from cooling system? Air in the cooling system is what it sounds like to me.

How long was the test drive? It is either not enough coolant, air in the system or you put the thermostat in backwards. A backwards thermostat will cause it to overheat a lot though.

You need to purge the air from the coolant system like they said.

It'll take a while. Just do it slowly over a few hours and you'll be fine.

Cooling system is airbound, try putting the front up on jacks leave the heat on med and leave the coolant cap off and rev the motor about 2500-3000 rpms for 10 or more minutes while watching the temp and feeling the temp from the vents.

Yeah, it was low on coolant. I had just got done doing the upper and lower radiator hoses on my mom's honda accord. Filling her cooling system (with bleeder) was a breeze. I thought no more coolant could fit in my wrx's system. I waited overnight and it was then ready for more, then more, then even more (okay, I'll stop with the then more's). You get the idea. It was just low on coolant as y'all suspected.

I'd spent too many hours in a row for my mind to have a clear thought about what the problem could be with the overheating. The timing belt, waterpump, and tensioner assembly job is over. Thanks for the thoughts.

you had an air pocket in the heater core, it happens, they can just be a bitch to bleed out.
