Hey guys I have an oil leak. It's slow...actually more like seeping. Only reason why I noticed it is because I had to remove my skid plate for something. Oil's not even making it to the ground as of yet...jsut the plate. Here are the pics of where it is comming from. Can't pinpoint an exact location, but that's why I am calling all the tri state suby guru's to have a look see. I thought it was the filter but it's not...It's further back and closer to the passenger side as you can see from the oil on the skidplate. Any thoughts??? Please tell me it's not a crack in the block!...if it is then byebye wrx. :furious:

People have said it could be the oil line for the turbo, front crank seal, or valve cover....
Anyone know if this is covered under warranty if the car is modded?
58k miles on her with cobb stage 2 mods

only way to to clean up any area with oil and check again to see where the oil is coming from
rigth now oil is everywhere it's impossible to tell.

Buy some oil dye and a uv light and follow the direction and youll find your leak like magic. and itll only cost you like 50 bux for dye and a light with the yellow glasses. EASY SQUEASEE

check the valve cover breather on that side of the engine - it's pretty normal for them to seep oil, but that looks a tad excessive (if it's coming from there, I would pull the breather and replace the gasket)

where is the valve cover breather? Didn't even know subaru's had one.

if you look on the top of each valve cover on the end towards the rear of the engine, they are there - they are painted black, maybe 3 inches long or so - here's a pic - they are part no. 11831 in this diagram.http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/wMTI1MzY5MTZzNDEzZGZkMzF5NTQx.jpg

Called the dealer, appointment is made, very excited because He said I am completely covered under powertrain even though the car has mods. Told me oil leaks are common, not to worry, stay off boost, and it will get resolved for minimal to no cost.

So how'd you come out on this?

UPDATE - thanksfor reminding me....Turns out my goddamn oil filter had a huge leak...It was a Purolator that I bought at the Autpoarts store. Dealer checked it and said the gasket was deffective and the oil was not staying near the filter. It was actually blowing back onto the crossmember from the filter so it looked liike the rear main seal was leaking. Got me a new subaru filter and was on my way. Checked two days later and no leaks at all...Thank God it wasn;t anything bad :-)

I was going to say to have your filter checked because I had that problem on mine too. When they did an oil change on it, they didn't pull the rubber gasket off from the old filter, so it had two of those rubber ring things on it and created a mess.
