A Subaru dealer here in northern NJ tells me that the Brat will be coming back, and with a tilt toward off-road ability...

Anyone else heard this?

Should we start praying now for the 212hp 6cyl?

Might he be thinking of the ST-X?

A new Brat is on the way late 2002 as a 2003. Don't know what they will actually call it though, or specs...

They are indeed going to call the ST-X the Brat again. I know the dealers in the Penn Jersey region were told this at a regional meeting in the summer that surveys showed Brat to be the overwhelming choice and chances were everyone would refer to it as a Brat anyway, no matter what it was called.

Smart move I think.

HEHE...:D WHOOO WHHOOOOO

BTW... GM (due to their stake in FHI) has already released a technology similar to the ST-X concept with the Chevy Avalanche. has anyone seen the commercials for it?? the back part of the bed folds down with the glass stowed a la Subaru....:D

That 'thing' is HEINOUS. I don't know why they would try to compete in that *****ty market. Who the hell is going to buy one of those? Lame.

Yes, it will be called the BRAT and will be out in Nov. of '02 (earlier I hope). A while ago, the engineers were having safety issues with the "switchback" and are trying to figure out how to keep it.

The STX has been out for awhile as a concept car probably oevr a year. It was at the major Auto SAhows begining of this year.

Supercharged 4cyl.
Crago changing thingy similar to the Avalanche
I don't think it will have the seats in the bed like the brat did.
To concept car also had a sweet McIntosh Audio system in it.
The Outback VDC edition has the McIntosh system available in it.

I didn't think it was coming out till 2003.

We've had info on the STX concept on our site for a while. Subaru will be unveiling the production version (called the Brat) at the Detroit auto show in January. I don't have a confirmed power plant yet.

GM has used a Subaru drivetrain and Turbo 2.5L motor in its Borrego concept vehicle. I just saw it this past week at the Anaheim Auto Show. Had a chance to slide under it. They were calling it a supercharged motor until they were corrected. It has an obvious up-pipe and down-pipe. Didn't get to look under the hood though.

dammit... I saw this pop up and I got all excited...

screw you post-diggers :)

I don't care how bad it did, the Baja was cool. I wouldn't mind finding one and turning it into an offroad beast when I move out west.
