Hey,

I was just removing my radiator fan to get to the crank pully when I noticed that my coolant container was very low. I also noticed that I have a lot of black flakes at the bottom of it which is more likely the chipped paint from my coolant lid.

Is my best bet to go and get a coolant flush at subaru, or is there a way that I can do the same thing they do, myself?

Also, is it true that I can azz distilled water to the coolant for now?

One more newb question: Is the coolant container next to the battery the only coolant container? What is the container near the turbo with the cap and hoses coming out of it? Is it there just one big coolant system in the car or no?

Thanks a lot everyone! I know these are a lot of questions.

Cooling System FAQ (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=504002) will answer a few of these.

I did it myself saving time and money. Don't forget the conditioner (read the FAQ).

.
There's just the one cooling system.

The one near the turbo is the header tank and should be the one you worry about filling. The one by the battery is for catching the overflow as the hot coolant expands and occupies more volume.

You can flush yourself with a garden hose in the lower rad hose.

Do read the cooling FAQ.
