Car: MY 93L FWD AUTO

I need to know what this sensor is for. It is wired into the automatic transmission harness, but what is it and what does it do?

looks like a resistor - why is it all alone?

It's in a similar location to the daytime-running-light resistor in my MY02. Is your car supposed to have DRLs?
