$30 to participate. at Bartlett HS again. Not sure exactly what time, but last time, there were a ton of people that showed. great for seat time! I think we'll go about 9 am, it's a bit more relaxed than the SCCA events. anyone else planning to attend??

I'm curious, why do YOU think it is more relaxed at PCA events?

AKLGT

maybe "relaxed" isn't the best way to describe it... perhaps... less organized? ;)

I'd go if my car were feeling better, maybe next go around. I'll agree it seems more "relaxed"

Porche Club of America? Actually I don't know. But its a Porche event and they are usually outnumbered by all the others lol.

Hope its not raining...

it is the Porsche Club of America, and they too put on Auto-x's.

In the states there are more clubs offering events, PCA, ACNA (Audi Club), Miata Club, VW Club, etc etc.. list goes on.

yes, PCA is Porsche Club of America.

if it's raining, i don't know if i'll go or not (participate). i really don't want to stand out in the rain to get sick. :( otherwise, i'm there! :D

I think the PCA events seem relaxed because they are a little more lax on the safety perameters and the structure of the event (less professional). This is just what I have observed since I have autox'd with them off and on since 1996. It was a great way to get more seat time in my early days. There is a definately a different feel between the SCCA and PCA autox events.

Agree, I am not sure how or why to be honest, but it is more relaxed the events I have gone to. My thoughts are along with Jakes. They are a bit more lax on safety parameters, they also seem to have less of a structured event, as in defined entry times, driver times, etc.. thereby alleviating some of the stress involved in getting cars on course by x time, or ending registration at x time. when it happens it happens, no "rushing" Also, I think they follow the KISS principle. (Keep it simple stupid) Less things to perform means less time wasted and less things to potentially go wrong.

Sounds like a decent time, I'm dying to thrash the STI....damn speeding fine scares are killing the primal urge. Is there a pre reg site, or is it pay and play?

AKLGT
06-10-2006, 02:01 AM
nope, you just show up and pay then. probably about 9 am. usually we'll meet up at the McD's on Muldoon and the hwy a little before hand. not sure if anyone else will this time or not. i think it'll depend on the weather mostly. it sucks if it's raining... but i may still go just to get some seat time.

Only seat time I think you got today was on a couch. So nice of you to have dropped by lol NOT. Guess next time eh?

Was a very fun course... and tight! Oh and rain.

yes, got quite a bit slick out there today. :( oh well... i needed the seat time for sure. very technical course, so everyone had to go slow.

Very technical indeed! Everyone did pretty darn good :) on the last three runs considering it was wet :( . I didn't realize there was a little ceremonial thing going on so Congrats to armysti and Clinton for getting their awards and beating the Porsches :D And for the active photographers at the event (trdvibe and Mavrik), whenever pics/vids are up I thank you guys in advance for posting.

i'm trying! lol

lots of pics and vids. i just picked the best ones. i realized I didn't get as many of some of the other cars as I'd have liked... oh well. i think Phil got some on his camera too, so i'll have to see what he took.

lol Alex... dude... I don't know. How do you forget the autocross is the next day and not set your alarm the night before... then wake up at 4pm?

Yeah I took some pics with my camera but mostly of the first couple runs people made. I was trying to get a few for Armysti so he can show his wife what she was missing while she's away. I took pics and vids of those I know are on here and a couple others.

But when it got wet though... it kinda sucked. I came a little fast towards corner 1 on my last run and when I went through the gate and then turned to head towards the next gate, the rear of my car drifted out and I was headed for the gravel. So I pretty much locked up and came to a stop, had to pack up and drive through the gate... really killed my time. :(

One of these days I'll try one of these "relaxed" events. I ended up catching up on sleep too, but not to the extent that others did. ;)

As for the rain, since it's non-points (if that matters) it would have been a blast to play on a wet surface. As another competitor commented on the British Invasion's dusty conditions - practicing in different conditions only improves your abilities. Wet rally-x style fun.

On that note, I sure hope it's sunny and warm on Saturday. :)

its called stolichnaya, you think i would purposely miss this? auto-x in the rain means a distinct advantage for a subie with BFG KDW's

ya, my best time was the last one on run 1, took out 3 cones while doing it. then run 2 it rained, so i knew i was screwed... :( again! grrr!!!!! oh well... i've come to the obvious conclusion that i suck at autocross. no matter how much seat time, i still am at the same level as i started... sorry, jill, i guess it's gonna take me a little longer than i was hoping to be a competitor for you. however, at least you know you'll win! LMAO!

the good news is that i wasn't last and beat 2 newbies.... and that's it!

Hope, you'll improve. Hopefully at a quicker pace than I am.

Focus on having fun, and do a better job than I have at asking for help.

I hope there are plenty of fun runs this saturday for some instructor feedback.
