I have read almost all of the post, while I know WRX's rule here I wonder has anyone done the following with a Outback Wagon. I ask abou this car specifically because of the headlamp housing vs the WRX

1. HID conversion
if so, how did it work out? did you have the issues about putting a HID in the OEM light housing? and did it have any light pattern issues?

I find alot of different housings for the WRX but the Outback seems to be left out in the cold on most MODS.
and

2. has anyone performed the "HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR HEADLAMP CIRCUIT" that you can find under the "The HID FAQ Thread - Read before posting your questions " thread?

what was the outcome? did it make a difference?

I know some might get on to me about the questions and I know the seconed was an actual post, but I have not seen anyone say "hey this worked great!" and I have not seen ANY post about HID upgrades to an Outback wagon. if anyone has any information / links or pictures please reply, I am tired of trying bulbs and want to find out if the relay thing makes a difference.

Thanks

You need to add your exact vehicle model and year to your profile so we know what you have. Is it the Impreza or Legacy Outback? If it's the Impreza Outback your lights are identical to the WRX or any other Impreza from the same MY and any WRX-related information will apply.
Even if you have a Legacy Outback, the lights are still reflectors so the answer to #1 is the same. The wiring is similar as well as far as being common positive/switched ground, so #2 would have similar results as well.
You may also have some luck posting your questions in the Outback forum.

Let me try this again, I have a 03 Legacy OB Wagon.
I have read MANY post on many sites about this and I notice that everyone has either impreza's or legacy OB sports and all of these have the "bug eye" housing, mine does not, I found that they sale projector replacements for the bug eye reflector that actually fits the bugeye housing. This is all good if you have bugeyes, my headlight housing is a totally different shape and as far as I can tell if you have a legacy OB (not the sport) you would have to do some creative mods to fit a projector in the housing if at all, hence my question, I am wondering if anyone has successfully installed a "projector" HID into the OEM housing for my car, I have not been able to find anyone that has done this MOD to this type of headlight housing so thought I would ask.

also From what I have read a D2s HID bulb placed in the OEM housing would not be advisable based on the safety of others due to the glare, so I am no longer curious about that, I am only looking for better illumination, not "coolness" and I would not want to blind others since I myself hate those that blind me. It is just that I have never found aftermarket housing or a projector retro fit for my housing?

As far as question #2.
2. Has anyone performed the "UPGRADE YOUR HEADLAMP CIRCUIT" that you can find under the "The HID FAQ Thread - Read before posting your questions” thread?

I understand the results would be the same, but has anyone done it? Did it help or make a difference?
I found these ready made relay harnesses here http://www.suvlights.com/index.php?cPath=24 but if someone has done it and it didn't do anything I don't want to waste the money, my wife and I both have 03 Legacy Outback Wagons, I just purchased Phillips vision Plus H1 +50 bulbs, they got the best rating so when they get here I wanted to do the relay harness thing. So..... Has someone done it??? Did it help??

Mulder, you seem to be one of the go to people on this site so I welcome your input, I posted it here because it is under "electrical" and I have read post before where others corrected the poster to put it under the correct forum. just trying to be correct in my placement

I welcome anyones help.

A good relay harness with some +50% light bulbs would be a huge difference by itself. I am not sure what your lights look like and don't know how easy it would be to retro a HID projector in them, but the harness and bulbs are a start. make sure your headlight lenses are as clear as possible. Every little bit helps

Very good, it is always good to know at least the money I just spent is a step in the right direction.
