I have searched but must not have used the correct wording.
I jsut bought an 00 RS and I want to fix a few things:
anyway I am looking for info on how i can make the fog lights owrk with the hi-beams on.

Same goes for making a switch to turn off the abs.

I remember Sportcompact did an article about it but I cant find it anymore.

please help

Your "Fog" light can be either fog lights or driving lights. They both look the same when they are off, but the fog lights are ment to augment your low-beams (or to be used alone as a step less than your low beams), while driving lights are ment to augment your high-beams, so you can see better on dark roads at night.

Using a fog light with the high beams would only help you see a little bit more of the road right in front of you. It won't help you see any farther down the road. I think you will probably want to get some driving lights. I believe the Hella 500's fit in the '00 bumper holes (I know they fit 2002-2003). The instructions for wiring them are included in the package.

I also know the easiest way to disable the ABS on a 2002-2003 is to simply pull the fuse. I don't know if this works for a 2000 though.

I have the stock RS lights with 100 watt bulbs in tem and I just want them to stay on when you switch the hi-beams on. they work great on low, but last night driving in gravel, i was trying to see far enogh ahead, and with only the high beams, i was creating shadows which were bad for the little elavation changes with consequences on either side.

I just wanna see!!

The difference between a fog light and a driving light is the pattern it throws, not the intensity of the light.

A fog light throws a very wide pattern that doesn't go very far, great for seeing the road directly in front of you. If you put a more powerful bulb in - the road immediately in front of you will just get brighter, you won't see any farther down the road.

A driving light throws a narrower, straighter pattern, which means you can see further ahead.

You can also get lights called pencil beams, which are very, very narrow and will light up the road for a long, long way - if the road is dead straight. They don't work very well on twisty roads.

I have Hella 500 driving lights in my 2003 bumper holes. They probably double the amount of highbeam light I get and are a great help on dark backroads at night. If you want to minimize shadows in the pavement you should mount them as high as possible, which is why people usually mount their driving lights on a light bar in front of their grill, rather than in their bumpers.

ok man you are missing my point completely. I want to be able to have the factory high beams on and the factory fog lights on at the same time. I am looking for some one to just point me in the direction of how to fix the factory wiring so it will work. I know it can be done, Iknow people have done it, that is all i really need.

I understand what you're saying. I'm just saying having your fogs on with your highbeams isn't going to help you see any better.

But if you really want to do it you just have to wire your fog lights so they are completely independant of the highbeam/lowbeam switch. Then you can leave them on all the time if you want.

ok thanks thats what i was looking for. ofr now the stock lights work ok. and i may change the lights later on, but what i was looking for was really how to wire the lights so they will work independently.

The other thing to be careful of is that if you put in high-power bulbs (like the 100w) you may melt/burn the light housing/socket/wiring because of the extra heat.
