View Full Version : How much is it the sti going to be?
ark101 10-15-2001, 11:39 AM Does anybody have an idea of how much the STI WRX is going to be? I just bought my 02 WRX less than a month ago and then I started hearing rumors that the new sti would be coming out. So I was wondering how much it would be, because I might be willing to trade in my 02 for the sti. But I wanted to know what would be the price difference between the two?
Thanks for any info

Seeing StaRS 10-15-2001, 11:41 AM I've heard you can expect the STi to be somewhere in the high twenty's to $30,000
wrx182 10-15-2001, 12:05 PM $38,000 & up.
This is (http://accessory.subaru.co.jp/impreza/3d/index.html) Japans Subaru site, you can build your own STi. When done, price is shown in yen & $$...price is right around $39,000
Rebellion 10-15-2001, 12:14 PM 39k is a fully loaded one... they start at about 34k (tho I think that is for a WRX NB or NA not STi) or so. Jspec prices are going to be higher than what they'll start at here... I'd be thinking that the US STi will probably start around $30k (VVT, 6spd alone will add a pretty penny).
I'm hedging my bets to $29,995 +/- $2,000.

WindyWRX 10-15-2001, 01:21 PM A link in another thread pointed to an article about the Australian STI coming out soon. It had a price of $55,130 Australian.
Converted to American dollars, thats $28,331. Not sure if that was with any options etc.
Seems reasonable.
Julian 10-15-2001, 02:08 PM Currency conversion will not predict the US price - that was proven with all the WRX pricing hype before SOA announced it.
It depends on if the USDM STi is decontented compared to the JDM. If not, expect low $30Ks, with very limited production. Which will PT-Cruiser the price tag.
If you just bought a WRX, you'll lose huge money trading it in on an STi in one years time.
orbit03 10-15-2001, 03:07 PM In the same article they list the regular WRX at $41,490AUD ($21,357USD). That is pretty close. I would think there would be a similar price scale for the STi. My guess. is $28-30,000USD.
RS_NW 10-16-2001, 12:06 PM Performance wise you guys think that 29k is great (bang for buck wise)? I suppose you would get a lot for that.
Julian 10-16-2001, 02:28 PM For the Full-Flavor STi, $29K would be a steal.
orbit03 10-16-2001, 04:11 PM I think it would be a good deal for even the 260hp version. You get the 6-speed, bigger intercooler, bigger turbo, bigger injectors, bigger brakes, stronger block. All the bits to facilitate LOTS of power. :)
Mel 22B 10-16-2001, 07:43 PM $39,000 usd is about $60,000 cdn...making the STi almost twice as much as the 'un-supersized' WRX. I tend to disagree with that value. My guess is about $45-47,000 cdn. For what its worth.

Austin 10-16-2001, 08:45 PM I'd say between $34K and $36K
shrieden 10-16-2001, 09:19 PM I'd say $33K-35K
Faraz 10-16-2001, 09:28 PM the dealer near me has taken three orders, and they charged 23k (base WRX) +15K (for the STi Package) ...so 38k before tax and tags.

Eric SS 10-16-2001, 09:53 PM All the rumors I have heard are very high 20's to mid 30's

Ripper_AWD 10-17-2001, 01:54 AM 38K is what my dealer at Ty Subaru in Connecticut told me.
Eric SS 10-17-2001, 02:56 AM Honestly though, no one knows (not even dealers) because it hasn;t even been confirmed yet.
Oquipah 10-17-2001, 01:19 PM Over $30K? I don't know, it may be fast, but that puts Subaru in some serious competition with the likes of BMW and AUDI. Anything over the $30K mark and I'd consider a Bimmer M3 for just a few grand more.
Look at what Nissan is doing to all of thier sedans (Altima, Sentra), they've bumped up power and styling while keeping costs realtively low and in the same niche. Pay attention Subaru!
Don't get me wrong, 276 turbocharged HP is making me drool all over the keyboard as I write this, but if the price is too steep I may be dreaming about this car they way I dream of buying an M3 or S4.
I haven't heard anything from dealers, and don't expect that they'd really have a good grasp on what the price will be, let alone if and when we will ever get the STi.
If we do get it, I hope Subaru keeps the price relative to it's competitors offerings.
