So im going to swap out my 97 imp brigton 1.8 with a 2.2 out of a legacy, add headers back exhaust, an underdrive pully and cai, ive talked to a few that have done the strait 1.8 2.2 swap but adding the extras should i change teh ecu, flash it, get a piggyback. This is my last step before i start the swap, i want to have it all set up and ready to make it a easy swap. Any and all help/comments are appreciated.

There are no flashable NA Subaru ECUs... you want a factory one. What style connectors does your ECU use?

im pretty sure its an odb 1 system,

MY96 and newer in the US are all OBD2. Federally mandated for all cars. Unless there is an extraordinary counterexample or two.

thats what i tought too, but when i scanned my car with a buddies scanner and im almost postive it was a odb1 system.
