View Full Version : turbo RS? DarkImpreza 10-15-2001, 02:26 PM just curious...how many 98-01RS out there with minnam turbo kit? Keiho 10-15-2001, 03:03 PM In Vancouver? Just you, and Hojai that are running around right now I think. There's a couple others, but either they're in the process of going back on the car or they're for sale. Ken 10-15-2001, 03:32 PM Is it only the MAP issue for MY00+ that's causing all of the tuning problems? So for a 99, it's supposed to be fairly simple to plug n play safely although it would run a bit rich until you tune it out with electronics? I'm uncertain about this whole issue, but if it's that unreliable that people are pulling the kits off, then it's not worth the $6k+. Cams, and the new Brullen headers + catback would be way more reliable in my opinion, with still a significant increase in power. Keiho 10-15-2001, 04:00 PM Yes, MY99s have no problems with turbo. You install the kit, get some electronics (fuel computer, J&S knock sensor, etc) and you'll have a fairly fast kit. It's the MY00 1bar MAP sensor that causes all the problems. Well not really, people in the States get it to run fine. Just no one here with the time and dedication for it yet. DarkImpreza 10-15-2001, 11:23 PM damn...hey keiho do you know anyone with stage 2 kit that wants to sell their top mount IC? I mean the turbo kit is running fine it all depends on how you set it up and tune it the proper way, and also the proper accessaries add it(fuel pumps, ignitions, sensors, etc....) and running safe range boost, if you over boost it then "any" car with turbo will be un-safe even the WRX from the factory dealer you buy...if you over boost it does it mean that the motor won't blow just because it's from factory? =) it's all personal .....i mean...me and keiho runs the kit and we have no bad comment on it...so......all depends... tora 10-16-2001, 09:49 AM Don't forget the Legacy's. |
