do GC8 owners have?
I need to get one cause my old one from my Golf won't fit, and apparently there was a redesign of the Thule's so I would have to buy a whole new rack instead of just the "feet".
So... Whatchy'all got?

Are you sure about that. I'm running a Thule system on mine but you might just try getting some feet for your old system and trying to work, if not you'll just have to get the rest anyways. There is someone on this site who works at a Ski/Bike shop who sells racks and he knows all about it.

I'm gettin a hitch style rack for mine. Already have the hitch so why get a roof style.

I believe that the Golfs, along with the jettas and most of the newer VW's and Audi's have specialty racks made for them by Thule. That's why the rack won't just transfer over. You'd have to get the whole new system (like you said)

You might try the BareCrafters rack that clips onto the glass on the side of the car. I haven't heard bad things about them, but I haven't heard good things either.

Yakima rack with stretch kit. It's expensive but it works perfect.
