Has anyone priced a new ECU from Subaru?

Are spare computers useful for the 2004 model STI's...ie can one swap between two computers without VIN/Security issues?

Thanks

Tim

Well, I got an internet price from a good Subaru dealer...

$522.35 plus shipping.

Ouch.

You can swap 2004 STI ecu's since there is no immobilizer. I think I got quoted $425 when I checked.

Freon: Thanks for answering the question. When I received the price quote, I spoke to the service department and they stated the same thing...you can pop in another 2004 STI ECU and it will work with no change to the programming, etc for VIN, etc.

This will reduce my stress when I send my ECU from UK to USA for a reprogram and hope it doesn't get lost in transit, etc!

I would be up a creek otherwise!

It is possible to change the ECU (IE: 2005 STI with 2004 ECU) but the wiring and modification you have to do is not "easily" available.

I have done this and tested it, but for reliability reason (sorry guys) I will not publish it no public forum.

See your EcuTeK dealer and they will conatct me for info.
