But you'd better ask the other fellas what is best for your model. Me, I have a 99RS and I installed a WeaponR. I have to say that I'm satisfied with the product.... redobs 10-15-2001, 10:55 PM You got some decent tires, yet? If not, might be a good choice. But, a nice Cobb intake would be cool, too!;) Silverscooby27 10-15-2001, 11:34 PM I'm too scared to put an intake on myself, just because of all the horror stories I've heard with the MY99 running too lean with one on. As you notice at Cobb Tuning, their intake is for MY2000 and up only. They're not saying that for no reason. If I had $300, and you wanted to do something for the engine, I'd probably go Unorthodox Racing pulley (available both in stock and underdrive diameters) a drop-in K&N air filter, and some NGK V-power spark plugs :) That last one I picked up from the nice folks here on these forums. Good luck, and welcome to the money pit! tom@kartboy 10-15-2001, 11:50 PM how about some tasty treats from Kartboy Kustoms? tom@kartboy.com www.kartboy.com ImprezaRS dot com 10-16-2001, 01:57 AM Try the MY99 intake from www.imprezars.com/shoppingcart.htm ? HondaH8er 10-16-2001, 02:03 AM Sweet, Larry, you finally have the MY98-99 intakes ready to sell! Not that it affects me, but glad to see that there is finally a good option for people with those cars. For $300, you should be able to get the intake and a rear sway bar. I highly recommend the Whiteline adjustable (18,20,22 mm), especially if you still have the stock suspension on your car. Really helps out alot, takes away the understeer. Good luck, and welcome to the money pit! the reason Cobb says that is because a MY98-99 CAI is a completly differnt setup due to the MAF sensor, not because he is afraid of them running lean Eric Ripper_AWD 10-16-2001, 04:00 AM Lots of fuzzy dice for your rearview mirror. Silverscooby27 10-16-2001, 04:43 PM Sorry if my post insinuated that the Cobb intake made the car run lean. I didn't mean that, I don't know that for a fact. I only meant to say that the 1999 is different from the 2000+. Sorry for the misunderstanding. . . auricom 10-16-2001, 04:48 PM a hot chick for the passanger seat... or the intake RacerinLSL 10-16-2001, 05:05 PM 20mm FHI rear sway bar from sugar - about $100 or less Kartboy short shifer ~ $125 well worth it. clear fender turn signals ~ $45 cheap yet affective asthetic mod Two fifths of Cuervo Gold ~ $30 your trunk monkey will love you. There you go. Performance and no more ugly orange on the fenders. Chad:cool: ImprezaRS dot com 10-17-2001, 02:44 AM By retaining the air plenum at the back of the motor, the GanzFlow PRM intake for MY99 should not run lean. All GanzFlow retain the stock air plenum for low end power and to prevent the lean run condition SCC magazine saw. I actually got the idea from their article where they said they'd have to look for an intake that retained the plenum. The air plenum absorbs the intake pulse harmonics which means that the shockwave of the valves snapping shut shouldn't make it to the MAF. A few people have these intakes and are happy with them ;) Larry www.ImprezaRS.com aussiebrydon 10-17-2001, 04:16 AM I just put a turbo in my 2000 RS, I think that the PDM Racing intake and K&N air-filter for your stock airbox should fit on your car just fine. Stop me if I'm wrong someone?? If you want to give me $50 plus shipping just to make it worth my time, I'd be more than happy to send it too you.
