Hey guys.

I had a slight change in employment, and now I don't make as much as I used to. It might come down to me having to sell my WRX. Or I might have to trade it in and trade down into something cheaper and used.

Help me out here, what is the value of a WRX that is about 2 months old and has 3,000 miles on it?

I have some parts...like an Injen CAI, APEXI AVC-R boost controller, GFB BOV, and a KARTBOY shortshifter w/ bushings.

I need some serious opinions and help....please help me.

Nick

I may be willing to take that Kartboy off your hands. Price?

Word of advice. Unless you find an enthusiast who really wants the car with the mods, then they add absolutely zero to the value of the car. You can put $10k worth of mods into a $20k car and it's still worth only $20k. Anyway, all that means is if you end up selling it, remove all the mods, sell the car stock, and sell the mods separately to recoup some of your cost.

Can't help you with the depreciation and current value of the car with 3k miles on it.

Kelly Blue Book doesn't even list 2002 models yet. The best way is to usually try to find someone to assume your payments. From the list of mods you have on it, it sounds like you've dumped around a grand into it. That might be enough for someone to take it off of your hands. Good luck dOOd. :(

the car will actually be less valuable when you put mods on. If you are going to trade it back to a dealership, I will take the mods off before I traded in. Either that or sell it off yourself.

My dealer had a used WRX with 4500km on it (silver), and they sold it within 45 minutes of posting it for $33,995CAD (MSRP in Canada is $34,995). So thats a car with 2800 miles on it going for around $750USD less than MSRP. Of course different areas have stronger markets. For the mileage you got, I think you could sell it quick for $1500 off the MSRP. Take off the mods and sell them separately, you might even be able to make up the price of the car.

Good luck man, if you gotta trade it in, go for the MP-3 its one sexy machine.

Get a second job, keep the car.

That's a shame... If you gotta sell, put the car back to stock, you will get more money for it and all the parts separetly.

I would personally try to keep the car. I know how you feel, I got laid off last month and the job market sucks right now.

Against better juedement, I am going to try to keep my WRX as long as I can. why? because I think I can..

there is a blaze yellow sedan in Autotrader online with 8K miles and the asking price is 23,500.

Oh man, that bites!

You are most likely going to have to eat most of the depreciation. Those other posts where people cited prices just a grand or so under MSRP are the exception, not the rule. The single biggest hit of depreciation occurs when you drive that car off the dealer's lot. The only way to justify that depreciation (besides being rich and simply not caring) is to own the car for as long as possible.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

I had my rex for 3 months, 7000 miles. After the accident, the insurance company valued the car at 24,000 bucks.

Trade it in for a MP3, at $18k that is pretty cheap for a decked out car.
