I was debadging the trunk of my WRX and started doing the anagram thing with all the little letters. Instead of taping a tattered flag to my antenna I did this instead:

i was concerned when i read the "patriotic subaru" subject line, but that's actually quite tastefully done and very original! much props!

Not bad, but I think you should lose the WRX badge too to make it clean. Especially since your license plate already tells everyone what car you drive.

That's Dope...... I thought you might have vinyl'ed out your ride with an American Flag across the entire thing.. Thank goodness. And your License plate. Image hearing that in a High Speed Chase. "This is Officer Edwards in persuit of a Silver Subaru License Plate Number "WRX" hehehe sorry. I have weird visions in my little head sometimes..

Sure you can, if you have the letters from three SUBARUs:

C: turn a "U" sideways
A: A
n: turn a "U" upside-down
A: A
d: cut the top loop off a "B," and flip it around so the back faces out
A: A

Of course it will look stupid, but I'll bet you'll be the only one with "CAnAdA" on your trunk lid! :D

Hey! Haven't thought about the C... gonna have to modify my list now :p

But the "B" could be hacked to an "E" or "F"...

I'm an ECE senior.
Look for a white WRX with a spoiler some time!
(there are two white in UCI now....)

That really is pretty sweet.

My question is, how do you remove the letters without damaging the finish? And also how do did you reattach them?

Very nice! I was afraid that may look tacky, but that's a very good idea! Came out great.

I didn't know what to expect when I opened this thread....I was hoping againts hope you didn't put American Flag stickers all over your car. (I saw an Echo or something completely covered in American flag bumperstickers last week). But anyway I think the Subaru to USA rebadging treatment looks good. Very sharp, simple and clean.

You all forgot the most important!!!

U R A BUS (you are a bus)

It's SUBARU backwards!! I was thinking of getting my plate to say this... pretty funny, but I am easily amused...

Sure: , but it will take two sets of SUBARU letters.

h: Cut the top loop and the bottom part out of a "B"
0: Put the two "u" letters together, one on top of the other
n: turn a "U" upside-down
d: cut the top loop off a "B," and flip it around so the back faces out
A: A

Use a hand-held hair drier to warm up the letters (or not... doesn't really need doing) to soften the gummy putty-like adhesive. Then saw some thin monofiliment nylon fishing line back and forth under each letter to get it off. I didn't have any fishing line on hand so I worked a thin piece of sheet styrene plastic under each letter. Any tool harder than styrene or nylon will scratch the ultra rugged and sturdy Subaru paint  !

There should be enough stick-um left on the letters to just stick 'em back on. I taped a plastic ruler up in an attempt to align the letters up nicely. If there is not enough stick-um in some areas, use double-sided tape.

side note:
The original Subaru adhesive is hot enough that it had deformed the clear coat in a few places. Minor, but noticeable if the light hits it just right (or wrong, I guess.)

Piece o' cake.
