Not sure which forum to post this topic on since we no longer have a WRX forum :( I guess I'll pose this question here -

I was poking around under the dash today and noticed 4 free connectors bundled together (see picture below). The 2 green connectors are male/female of the same type, but aren't connected in my car for some reason. The black and white connectors obviously don't mate, but there doesn't seem to be anything else around for them to hook up to.

Can anyone identify what they are for, or whether they are connected in other's cars.

Those green connectors are test connectors-they are meant to be connected for certain diagnostic procedures only. If you connect them, you'll notice the check engine light will start flashing and other strange things will happen as well. Unless you are trying to make a specific diagnosis (with the benefit of the shop manual), do not connect them together. The other connectors are probably for accessories or components that are not on your car (this is typical for most cars-the wiring harness is made to accomodate various items that may or may be included).
I hope this helps!

Thanks alot for the info Bruce - like Brucelee, I was tempted to connect them, but decided I'd better check on it first.

Thanks for the info. I was doing the fog light mod and saw the wires up there and thought I disconnected them somehow. So me, being the smart person I am connected the two green ones and finished with the mod. So when I got done, of course, my check engine light came on. So I got on here for some help and there was my answer. Thanks a lot!!
