Recently at around 3am in the morning I caught a coupe of youths trying to break into my scoob.

Fortunately I managed to scare them off from a distance, upon inspection of the car they had damaged the lock.

I am not a happy bunny, but at least I still have the car.

I leave nothing valuable in it and it has £1200 worht of security on it including a damn good alarm and immobiliser, an active tracker system and Disklok.

Do you get much trouble?

Arseholes... that suxs. Auto theft here in the states is somewhat different. I live outside Baltimore MD and have many friends in the city. Auto breakins are regular there but can be avoided by not leaving things like change in your ashtray. Most of the people breaking into cars downtown are too dumb to know how to steal a car all they want is your change for a nice fat rock of crack. As far as actual auto theft goes the majority of cars being swiped are camary's etc. Fortunately, the true thiefs havent really started stealin Subarus yet. We dont get as crazy with our alarms either we really dont use things like the immobilizer. You might want to check out the SIDC mail list alot of those folks are from your neck of the woods and might be able to give some feedback. I know they have brought up many theft issues in the past. Once again im sorry to hear about your run in with theives.

My car was left on blocks before. Someone apparently really like my rims. Bastards.

Cars are generally stolen in the States for parts first, and for joy rides second. Subarus are not very common/popular here, so there's little in the way of a black market for parts. Most common stolen cars are the most popular (Hondas, Toyotas).

My RS is the only car I see in my whole town, so any potential thieves probably don't even know what it is. There are some benefits to having an unpopular (dare I say it?) car.

Good luck, Little Miss, we all know how popular WRXs are in the UK!

People are usually after your stereo (as far as I can tell).

A few years ago I walked outside and found my Honda Civic up on blocks. That sucked.

Out in the lot of my apartment, someone stole the rims off a civic and left it sitting not on blocks, but on its rotors! ouch.
