View Full Version : STi cost? 128d 10-20-2001, 12:50 PM This is not another "When is the STi version post gona arrive" post, but rather if it did, what do you think it would cost? imprezawrxsti.com 10-20-2001, 06:26 PM It has been discussed before- but given the current "evidence" I've seen and the research I have personally done, I say 30K give or take a couple K. JJ www.imprezawrxsti.com All STi, All The Time Sooberman 10-21-2001, 01:14 AM Is that the insurance cost per year? imprezawrxsti.com 10-21-2001, 01:04 PM Ok, let's talk about insurance cost. IMHO, the same thing taht initially happened with WRX's will happen with the STi. They will see the WRX-STi as mostly just another WRX and base their rates off of that. Then they are going to wait and see what happens; hopefully WRX-STi drivers will be a little more careful than WRX owners. :) JJ www.imprezawrxsti.com All STi, All The Time scotto 10-21-2001, 03:51 PM The Sti according to a UK type retails for 30k Pounds there, which is roughly 50k bucks here. My guess the best we could expect is mid-upper 30k range. Of course if they brought a Sti wagon in at just under 30k well trade me in baby. JGard 10-21-2001, 08:43 PM as for the comparison to the UK price... check out computers cost over there, if you want to do that. a top of the line Dell goes for about 2000 pounds, when it would go for about $1700 here...so I don't know if that's a fair trade-off.. I would say, however $30-$35k is a reasonable price... Eric SS 10-22-2001, 01:19 AM I agree. Low $30k's Eric death_blossom 10-22-2001, 02:37 AM i've heard 55-60k Canadian dollars from Subaru salemen before, not that they are *ever* accurate. Avedis 10-22-2001, 06:34 AM My guess is that the STi will arrive at just a hair under 30k, something like $29k for the wagon and $29.5k for the sedan (if they bring a wagon over, that is). They'll tack on the destination charge later so that the "sticker" is under $30k... sort of a magic number when people are shopping for cars. Well, there's my $.02 worth. I guess if nobody wants it, I'll put it back in the piggy-bank to save up for my STi sedan. --jeff (fiancee would get the wagon I have now ;) ) NickSTi 10-22-2001, 03:59 PM The price jump from a 2001 RS to a 2002 WRX is like 3k right? So why will the price jump from a WRX to WRX STi be 10k? I think they could easily do it for less than 30k. Dont most WRXes go for 23-24k? is the WRX STi 6k more a car? Imprezer put a tec II, turbo, and downpipe in and got something faster than an STi for less than $6k. so unless they are offering bmw luxury standard, $35k seem out of the question. GenMaster 10-22-2001, 05:23 PM Yup, my friend told me our wrx are sold in Japan around 15,000 US I think..so given the ratio there STi over here will probabll double...so it should be around 5-60k canadian. Julian 10-22-2001, 05:43 PM $30K or so, if they don't decontent it. Is the STi $6K more car? Depends. It'll be a factory-warrantied 280HP AWD car with STi interior, huge brakes, wheels, rubber, suspension, etc., along with the cachet of being an STi, which is worth something only to those in the know. Can you mod a WRX to STi performance for the difference in cash? Probably. But in the end you'll have a modded WRX, not an STi. That's what you can't buy on the aftermarket. If you just want to go fast, buy Nova, install Rat motor. Flacco 10-23-2001, 01:37 AM The STI is going on sale in Australia for just over 55K AUD... If you guys are getting it for 50k than I would say you are getting ripped off..... Just my opinion |
