Hi.

I need a quick guide here.
I just replaced my turbo and need to crank the enging 5-6 times @ 10-15 seconds to ensure that the turbo has oil before I am allowed to start the engine.

How do I make sure that the engine will NOT start when I crank it?

Tommy

Go into the fuse box under the dash, and pull the "IGN" fuse. This will disable the ECU and prevent the car from starting.
At least this is true for earlier years, I don't see why it shouldn't be the same for 06.
If you want to verify, you can look at the fuse descriptions in your owners manual (should also be printed on the inside of the fuse box cover).

Thanks Mulder.

Just tried that and it worked.

another option is to pull the plug on the fuel pump relay. that'll kill it and not mess with anything that might run off the main IGN rail.

Would doing this reset the ECU?

yes it will.

No it won't. The IGN fuse disconnects the key-switched power from the ECU but not the constant 12V so it will not be reset.
And just disconnecting the fuel pump relay will NOT prevent the engine from starting. The ECU remains active so the injectors and ignition will still operate and the car will start and run briefly on the remaining fuel.

My mistake :), although my car has never started, not even for a revolution, when i've had the FP relay unplugged in the past.

perhaps that's because the general procedure is to unplug it and then crank it before beginning work to suck what's left out of the lines.
