Dealers here in Australia are saying a few big changes coming down - not sure if/when we'd get these in the US:

1) shorter gear ratio: back to [edit] 4.4 from 3.9. Having just driven a MY99 and MY01 (new gen) back to back I would say the final drive ratio is one of the most noticable differences between the two cars. I would think a lot of the weight/acceleration issues will disappear. This would be a very expensive change to make yourself. Also, the gear ratios are supposed to be closer. I have seen the spec sheet - I will try and bring all the info back.

[edit] here's the link:

2) rumor of 6 spd box standard on the WRX for MY02.

3) yet another rumor of a headlight update....

[edit] 4) outside temperate display (same as OBS/RV)

And add that to the previous update (already confirmed as it is on my mum's MY02 OBS):

5) radio aerial moves from A-pillar to rear window glass

Now to drive that B4...

Let's hope this 6-speed rumor pans out.

Like the 2000+ Legacys. Mines in the rear glass. I love not having wind noise from an antenna.

Makes the car look that much cleaner, smoother, sexier.

They could have made it like the beetles.

I heard from a subaru guy at the recent motorshow, that the WRX will be the 6 speed in Aus next year.... But don't quote me on it if I am wrong:p

Outside temperature displays are *soo* useful.

(For the Washington people) The signs on Snoqualmie pass saying the temp was the most useful thing they ever did up there (now, if only they would make it 3 lanes up the eastside of the pass).
