I was up in da U.P. last week unexpect. Couldn't goto the rally my dad had a heart attack but is ok.

Anyway I was coming home on the puddle jumper and sat next to a prodrive mechanic who was at the event.

Here is some info I extracted from him:

group N boost is around 1.3 bar
open class wrc car boost is about 1.7 bar..

don't think about doing this on your wrx.. they rebuild the engines from the ground up twice a year.

group n 5 -speed.

wrc 6 speed trani

they use mobil 0W50 oil in the cars.
and synthetic oil in differentials

they can install a new trani in 145 minutes.

No MBc or such in these cars just their own ecu chip...

etc. etc.

what are the odds of US of A scooby fan getting a seat next to a prodrive mechanic! that must of been a fun conversation.

I spent 3 weeks working at prodrive last winter! Can't go into details but I saw a lot of cool stuff. Got to sit in one of their mondeo british touring series cars. :D

Mental note: contact prodrive engineers for some free stuff! At prodrive they all wear prodrive sweaters, shirts, overalls, etc at work. Should've snagged a box and sold them in the private classifieds.
