I am thinking of upgrading my engine and tranny. At first I was thinking of just getting the old 2.5 USDM STi engine and 6 spd transmission, but then I saw that Perrin had made an STi with an H-6 engine in there...
Obviously it's not a plug and play deal, but what $$ numbers would I realistically be looking at, installed?

Call PDX Tuning and find out as they are the ones that did it and all we'd be doing here is feeding you wild-assed guesses.

Call Gruppe-S too... they were looking for a car to do the whole 9 to. At least $15k i bet. (that's for a built turbo motor though, i bet)

It won't be cheap even if you go N/A. If you own your 05 WRX straight up, have a secondary (reliable) car, and have at least $10k to burn (already in your bank account) then it is possible. If you don't, just put that money into paying the car off and saving up for something faster in the future. The H6 swap just isn't a financially sound thing to do at this time.

^^^^ all but the second car is true...
But I didn't think it was going to be that expensive... I guess I'll just wait until it becomes a real option... Or wait until they come out with a H6 STi ;)
Thanks for the replies!

meh..Its not that wild of a guess, all you have to do is read Perrin Jeff's H6 build thread. He says it will cost around that much.

Having gotten my car up and running finally, I'd say I'm into my engine swap for about $12k. Its NA and both mechanics working on the car have spent more hours than they've billed while on the learning curve.
