View Full Version : RS seats in Australia!
xfrickx 10-23-2001, 02:25 AM Thid doesn't have anything to do with an engine, but I was just looking at the Australia Subaru site and noticed they also had the RS. And it comes with cool ass seats. Why don't we have those seats, even in the WRX! SOA bi*ch?
xfrickx 10-23-2001, 02:35 AM  Bastards they also get the momo wheel w/what looks like an alumimun center emblem! And why does thiers have a 7000 RPM REDLINE!!!! What are they getting that we don't!?!?
Flacco 10-23-2001, 03:11 AM The seats in our RS (which was only released in OZ this week) are basically the same as in our WRX... Many you guys have really lucked out with the impreza's... MY RX (na 2.0) has the momo stering wheel... As far as I can tell our cars get really good equipment... Right down to the Clarion stereo system...
Kostamojen 10-23-2001, 03:16 AM Because your average american is overweight and cant fit in those seats :( Thats why none of the car companies are putting them in NA cars...
Dont shoot the messanger! But its true
xfrickx 10-23-2001, 03:17 AM Needs to get on the Ball! Oh yeah does the 2.5 over there really have a 7000 RPM redline? I figure you should know, or could find out, living in Australia and all.
Flacco 10-23-2001, 03:22 AM I will check what it is this weekend... I want to take one for a test drive....
Flacco 10-28-2001, 08:03 PM I didnt get to the dealer this weekend... But I think the redline will be around the same as the two litre here... Under 7000
Julian 10-29-2001, 12:19 PM This was a rumor posted earlier, however it seems this was made by viewing documentation on the cars, where the RS with the 2.5L was specced under a picture of the 2.0L dashboard (which has a higher redline).
Snowphun 10-29-2001, 04:33 PM What are they getting that we don't!?!? I'm pretty sure the car is significantly more expnsive in Oz. So you could have all those things if you paid more, but then people would complain about the price. It's all a matter of compromises.
Paul
Flacco 10-29-2001, 05:32 PM The car costs about $32,900 which if you convert to US dollars is about $16,234.. I dont know if that is more expensive or cheaper than what you guys pay...??
Brad
Yeah, that's cheaper, anybody gonna e-mail SOA about it?
Snowphun 10-29-2001, 07:13 PM about $32,900 which if you convert to US dollars is about $16,234 Man, are you sure? That's a hell of a deal. Send me two! :D
Julian 10-29-2001, 07:13 PM As for the engine, figure out if there's actually anything different, or if someone just got something wrong and quoted a redline for a different motor?
As for the seats, even the Integra Type-R didn't come to the States with the Recaro SRDs, so it's not just Subaru.
So who in Austrailia wants to send me a WRX/RS Momo Steering wheel CHEAP? :D
Flacco 10-29-2001, 07:40 PM No way bro, I love my momo steering wheel. I will send you a picture of it if you want :D
Hell Yea ! So I can print it up and tack it to my stock 2.5RS steering wheel and wish ! YEA! :D
ANZAC_1915 10-30-2001, 12:18 AM We got the smaller center cap because of crash test issues.
[I should mention that the outer grip felt identical to me, though I wasn't paying attention.]
We got the non-sports seats because of fat American a$$es.
Although, ironically, my fat Australian rear end doesn't fit in the Aussie WRX seats all that well.
Glenn
PS the nicest thing they have there is a very nice blue/denim cover for the owners handbooks. I am trying to get a couple.
Flacco 10-30-2001, 12:39 AM Yeah, I liked that owner manual cover as well. I thought it was a nice touch..... Its the little things that impress...
Flacco 11-04-2001, 09:51 PM Here it is
Flacco 11-04-2001, 09:52 PM A close up
HomerJay 11-05-2001, 12:22 AM There's is a lot of things we don't get in America. Why? Because American's for the most part don't want it. There are some enthusiast that notice and want those things but our market as a whole doesn't car. Why don't we have the nice seats? Because the reason Kastomojen pointed out. Why didn't we get the WRX from the beginning? Because, most Americans don't seem to care about driving a high performance 4 banger. Americans like big cars w/ big V-8's and automatic trannies and we like to go fast in a straight line  . Most american's can't even drive manual. No point in selling something there is no market for. At least finally the there is enough of a demand to bring the WRX over.
HndaTch627 11-05-2001, 04:13 AM our seats are designed for the "average american" meaning fatter people.
