I was wondering, has anyone heard of a company that will import the Subaru WRX STi to the US? Better yet, has anyone done this?

you can, not sure with what company. but its going to be expensive with shipping, taxes, and just the price of the vehicle

There have been a couple of good threads on this subject so try a search. Shouldn't be that hard to find. Basically it is going to be expensive, like Silver 2002 WRX said. I think the decent way to do it is to send the chassis, sepparate from the engine and drive train and put it together over here and then register it as a kit car. This is if you want it street legal.

There is a good reason very few have done this.

wait until the LHD version comes out in Europe. Should be less paper work and easier to insure (probably not saving much over a RHD though)

Shipping is not too expensive. Tax I think it's not much if it's used. But you have to go through all the tests and that's the pain and it costs you some $$$. It has to meet the US emission law, etc.

yeah, better way is to take it apart and put it together here in USA.

Insurance will be alot though. It will be catagorized as Collectors Car(something like that).

Good luck and let us know what you do.

Man importing a car that is not sold in the US isn't too smart, unless you are just rich and have no where else to spend your dough. It's gonna cost you over $40k I bet. Go get a Porsche or something. Besides it won't be street legal if it is a RHD car.

Just to give you a ballpark price... the Evo VII sells for $48,000 here so the price will likely be similar. :(
