View Full Version : WRX factory wing question

So I know they actually install the 'factory' wing here in America when it reached port. Now, the WRX already has a 3rd brake light in the rear-window area, and the wing has a 3rd brake light also...

Do they both stay connected and light up when the brakes are hit??? I've seen this on other aftermarket wings w/brake lights and don't like the way they look. I'm stilling planning on options and wonder how it looks from behind.

TIA.

I'm sure this has been discussed before a search would have found this.

But

There is a plug in the trunk under the third light. Disconnecting this plug will render the inside third light inoperative. The real problem with having both lights connected is the glare on the spoiler.

They both lit up. Some people on this board unplugged the one inside the rear window, but I decided to keep it lit. Doesn't disturb me that much, and for those SUV/big truck drivers behind you, it's easier for them to see the one inside the window.

The spoiler blocks the view of the third brake light in the rear window. If the spoiler light wasn't there, I don't think the brake lights would meet federal regulations because of the visibility issue.

if you put a wing on, i'd recommend disconnnecting the third brake light on the car - like they do with wings on the civic

I'm with rkkwan - the light in the rear window IS visible to SUV drivers.
