Damn, I wish the WRX came in a two door. Am I crazy or does anyone like two-doors a la the RS?

This has come up before. Some of us (including me) like the idea of a fat three-door wrx.

Somewhere on the board is a photochopped one...

my last car was a 2 door and i liked it, but the 2 cars before that were 4 doors. At first i just thought, "Why does this car only come in 4 door, that's weird." But know after having it I can say i'm very happy that it does. Not having to move the seat for this and that and bending into the steering wheel...i dont miss it.

Buy a pre 2002 Impreza and every dumb-ass out there will think your car is a WRX.

I think the number is up to 132 now. That being the number of times I've been asked, " Hey is that the new WRX?" or, "Nice WRX!."

Anyone wanna sell me their badge, so I can tell them, "Why yes it is!":monkey:

Why oh why did Subaru put the old rally car in that commercial!!!

Skylab,

The car in that commercial is the 22B all dressed up. Not actually a rally car. But the reason is still beyond me.

I think its because the voice over in the advertisment goes something like this: "...the three time winner of the world rally championship..." I suppose the reasoning is that they are trying to be accurate and depict the actual car that won those awards. The present Impreza body style has yet to offically "win" the WRC so they had to depict the body style that did.

Yes, you are crazy.

There wont be a 2 door Impreza cause the Sedan outsold the Coupe by big numbers in the 2000/2001 model year here in the states.

Really? but they produced more 2.5RS coupes than Sedans in the states :)

I'm not convinced this is true. There are no 2-door GDA's anywhere, not just the US. I highly doubt that they would not design a 2-door unibody just because the US didn't seem to want one.

My guess is that they just wanted to reduce costs and not have two different sets of tooling (though obviously, 2-door and 4-door cars of the same type have a lot in common).

What's your source for this? I see many more coupes than sedans in my area....

I thought the number of coupes and sedans produced in the US were the same. 0.

During the Edmunds.com chat with Subaru reps right after SOA announced that the WRX was coming to the US (and what it was going to be equipped with), the spokesman said that in the first year the RS sedan was produced that it sold more units than the previous years (including the year the sedan was introduced, which I think makes it 3 years) of RS coupes combined.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, this was a while ago... but I'm pretty sure I remember correctly.

I also seem to remember hearing somewhere that Subaru was kicking around the idea of bringing back an XT type of two door, to use the WRX running gear but not the Impreza name. Seems like I heard that some time ago, and haven't heard it since, so it may have just been speculation...

there is a point being missed here.

there is no 2-door anywhere else in the world. There really hasn't been much of one in the past either.

Generally speaking, you will only find a couple types of Imprezas that actually are 2-doors. The 22B, P1, STi Type R and Type RA.

But the majority around the world are 4-doors, and they want to keep it standard.

STi type RA comes/came in a 4 dr. saloon.
