I know if your O2 sensor fails the computer will turn on an indicator light. However, will the O2 sensor degrade and still be ok in the eyes of the computer?

I have 131k and I think things may be running rich. When I pull the car out on to the driveway and then later back into the garage I smell gas. Also fuel economy is not quite as good as it used to be.

Yes. Bosch says to replace them every 30000miles, and they say you will save this much money if you do so.

SAVINGS PER YEAR $134
After 30,000-50,000 miles $335 - $558
After 60,000-100,000 miles $670 - $1,117

Ie- They say it could save you over $335 a year at 30000 miles a year.
